Really??? I think they are more "self-sufficient" in VV3, every villager gets to work immediately, one of my villagers sat on the Research Table for 5 minutes and she became adept because she didn't run off. Most of my villagers get to work themselves!
I noticed the same thing too for the ones with no skill. I was thinking of making some bums and wondering if I could and now I know I can.
