Sorry dude ...

you probably changed the time too far into the future. Playing with time works fine, if you know how.

First I go to the Menu in the game. Then I go to the system preferences for date and time and alter the time/day. I find its best not to advance the time too far until you have a more permanent food source, like 6-9 hours or so. Now that I'm far in the game, I comfortable advancing my guys for a day or two with no ill effect. After I have set the time I go back to my game and press play. All good.

Time traveling, which you are describing, is ill advised and considered to be cheating. Not only does it mess up your villagers, but it will *ALSO* mess up other applications on your computer.
