Try doing the things outlined in this post. The requirements for Virtual Villagers are similar to those for Fish Tycoon.

I have Virtual Village on my pc (windows xp). It worked fantastic the first day or two. But now I can't update my statistics. I either get a message that says "refresh failed. Are you online?" or the screen totally locks up and I have to turn the power off on my computer and totally reboot to get out of it.

There are currently server issues - the forums and the game stats functions reside on the same server. See Arthur's post about the server status.

Thank you! At least now I know the problem isn't on my end. That is a big relief!

Hello. I have windows xp and I am experiencing trouble installing Virtual Villagers on my PC. I downloaded the trial version from aol and I enjoyed it. So I unistalled it and bought the full version from your website and when I try to run it I get this error message:

This program has been damaged, possibly by a bad sector of the hard drive or a virus. Please reinstall it.

So I have unistalled it and reinstalled it a number of times and it still does not work. Please help!

Try downloading it from here. And see if it helps. If it does not, you will need to submitt a support request here. It sounds like the file was demaged during download.

That problem is most likely being caused by one of the situations that I described in this post.
