I have been playing this game for over a thousand hours and have one fish to find - number one of course. Somehow I missed it. Does anyone have any suggestions - did I miss the fish on the way up or can I find it by breeding the more expensive fish. Not too sure which way to go.

From everything I've read, I am told that you get it from hatching common fish eggs. I've tried two or three batches so far, and have not come up with it yet, but that's what I have read to do.

You can breed Magic Fish number one, but only from a handful of combinations (unlike most of the other fish, which can be produced from dozens and dozens of combinations). Finding those combinations will usually require more than just a random approach to breeding. Most people find it easier just to hatch it from eggs.

The body is impossible to breed from two different fish. The only way to get this fish is to breed two fish with the same bodies and the prerequisite fins. Or hatch it.
Which does rather make this common fish, really very uncommon. If you see what I mean.

cool!! I've also been looking for Fish #1 for a few weeks (7100 hours, 2710 fish sold, 249 species discovered - is this addictive or what!) I thought it was a spotanus, but good to get it confirmed. I guess i'll just keep hatching common eggs and mating spotani (?) I have $51,000 - should buy me a lot of batches...
