Ok, so I've gotten to the third tank environment (finally) and now I seem to be able to breed just about everything. I'm going over the combinations, making an excel spreadsheet (yes, I know you can get the answers from several places on the web, but what fun is that?). Have some questions now at this level. I'm really only looking for yes/no kinds of answers here, not spoilers or spelling it all out for me. (Note: In all the questions below I am precluding the use of mutating/chemical/other agents to modify what the fish do/are/have. I just want to understand the nature of what goes on without additional external influences.)

1) If I continuously breed fish-A with fish-B, will I always get fish-C? As you are probably aware, in the case of genetics and reproduction, the same two parents can produce three very different looking children (as was the case in my family--fortunately I got all the brains). Is there ever a chance that breeding fish-A with fish-B might produce fish-D instead of fish-C?

2) If A+B=C, is it always true that B+A=C? For example, if fin-type-A + fin-type-B = fin-type-C, will fin-type-B + fin-type-A always have the same result (fin-type-C, in this case)? Does this also apply to fish type?

3) Are there any fins or fishes that absolutely CANNOT be bread and must be obtained from eggs? If there are, don't tell me which ones (I'll find out the hard way), just want to know if that is the case or not.

4) If I am dilligent, and keep cross-breeding fin types (presume same fish type for mother and father, e.g. golden beta with silky beta, greenfin beta with pink beta, etc.), will I eventually expose ALL fin types for that fish?

5) Do ALL fish types have ALL fin types and vice versa, or are there some combinations that don't exist?

The answer to all of your questions is "yes"

Ok I guess I made it a little more complicated than I should have. I structured the questions poorly--some were acutally two questions, others weren't really yes/no. Let me break them down correctly.

1A) Will the same two fish always produce the same third fish? If the answer to this is YES, then the answer to 1B below is NO.

1B) Would the same two given fish ever produce one or more alternate children? If the answer to this is YES, then the answer to 1A above is NO.

2) Was that YES to both questions?

3) Confirming: there are one or more fish that absolutely cannot be bred and must come from eggs.

3B) (New Question) If certain fish can only come from eggs, does that mean I have to keep buying eggs in perpetuity until I "get" the missing fish?

4) Confirming: if I keep cross-breeding same-fish parents, I will eventually expose all fin types.

4B) (New Question) If the answer to 1B above is YES, then that would mean that I would have to perform repeated parings of the same two fish to ensure that I have ALL the fin types, correct?

5A) Do all fish types have all fin types? If the answer to this is YES, then the answer to 5B below is NO.

5B) Are there some combinations that do not exist? If the answer to this is YES, then the answer to 5A above is NO.

Unless I'm missing something.

Thank you for humoring me, Ladycfii!

1A) Yes (unless there's an exception that I'm unaware of)

1B) No (see above)

2) No

3) Yes, but only because there are one or more fin types and one or more body types that can't be bred. You have to consider each "component" separately.

3B) Not if you get lucky!

4) Yes (except the one(s) that only come from eggs)

4B) N/A

5A) Yes

5B) No

Consider yourself humored! If you do find any exceptions to 1A, I'd love to hear about them.
