I'm Confused (Possible Spoiler?)

OK, I'm trying to play the online version, and I'm very confused. I've got a bunch of fish that hatched from eggs, and they're nearly ready for breeding. Trouble is, none of them are of the same species.
Is this important for breeding, or am I just supposed to start creating new species off the bat?
Thank you for the help.
Oh, btw, whoever does the spelling for the games, should really look into a dictionary (no offense), because I've noticed that in the supplies descriptions for things like Ick Cures, and Fungal cures, and Plant assistants, instead of it saying, "to help prevent/cure diseases" it instead says, "to help prevent/cure deceases".
Just thought you all should know.
OK, new confusion... I bred almost all my fish, and put the sick magic fish into the sale tank as I don't have money for a second tank (not that he's selling anyway, as he's sick, and I don't have money for medicine). Anyway, in the first tank, my fish gave birth, and my silky fish got pushed into the isolation area. I switched over to the sale tank, and there are now two babies in with my magic sick fish? How is that possible?
Edited again:
OK, I'd also like to know if, in the online version, do magic fish show up as magic fish? Because, supposedly I have one, but it's not showing up as a magic fish in the "magic fish discovered" area. And, it's dying on top of everything else (I only have level one of everything). I also now have at least 5 baby fish (unkowns) that are sick and dying. I'm assuming they're magical fish too that cannot survive in a level one environment?

The online (Flash) version differs from our "real" version in many ways, and it is not intended to be much more than a demo of the game play of the purchasable version. It doesn't go through beta testing and has a lot more bugs, as a result.

Bummer. Well, if that's the demo version, no offense, but, like with my experience with the online version of VV1, it doesn't make me want to purchase the game, being as it's so limited.
Something that the developers/producers of the game might want to think about. I'm not trying to sound harsh, but, well, I'm (and I'm sure many other people are too) the kind of person that if I cannot get a good sense of what a game can really do, I'm less inclined to want to buy it, because if it's not much fun to play online, why should I think the "real" version will be any better?
And I know people will say, "So why not download the one hour free version to see what it can do?" but, I don't want all those games downloaded onto my computer. I feel that this is what the online versions should be for. To check out the game and see what it can really do, and if the online version is that limited, it's not much fun to play.
*sigh*

Hi Satai Delenn, I have successfully played Fish Tycoon online, for weeks on end (before I purchased the game). And I was able to breed, find magical fish (yep they show up!), and keep most of my fish alive. How about I give you a few of my tips: 1) don't use your spare eggs right away. 2) don't use your growth hormone right away either. 3) since you don't start out with any of the same fish, breed fish that are like finned or like body shape. 4) don't buy meds for the first fish that get sick before you make some money. After you have a little extra, then cure your fish. I can give you more but I don't want to give too much away all at once in case I might spoil it for someone else reading. The one hour Demo is different. The graphics are a lot better(!) for one, you won't lose as many fish in the learning process, and (as stated by LadyCFII) you'll have less bugs to deal with and more features. I'm not a game buyer myself. But I was soooo hooked by the Demo version of Fish Tycoon that I changed my mind. I couldn't remember where I found it, went searching the internet for it, ran into Virtual Villagers, and the rest is purchase history...

Why blame LDW for the online version of their game? You have been told that it is a very limited version. To try the game, download a proper trial version.

Thank you Happy Player for the tips.
I apologize to everyone for my attitude yesterday. I'm in the middle of trying to deal with a company I downloaded and purchased a game from because I tried the online version, loved it, purchased it, downloaded it, and it's not running right, and I've been fighting with the company that sold it to me, and as a result, it's put me into a bad mood regarding the purchase of online games in general.
And Arnie, I do blame LDW because the game I purchased that is having issues, is an LDW/Oberon Media game, so my frustrations from the game I purchased leaked into this game.
Anyway, like I said, I'm sorry for my attitude, this has just been very frustrating because the company I'm dealing with, is as stubborn as I am.
I am having slightly better success with the online version of FT last night and today, and the last time I restarted the game, I managed to get two fish of the same species right off the bat, so breeding them has been good, and I've been making a little extra money. I did go ahead and buy medicine to cure my stock of ick and fungas though, because if I didn't, I would have lost my breeding stock, and I really didn't want to have to start over again. I did also use my growth hormone, but since I am able to breed my fish (the two same species ones, and two that aren't the same species but for some reason are compatible), I'm not worried about my cash flow, because I'll hopefully be able to raise more cash soon to either buy more, or look into research for food/environment/etc.. I am trying to figure out why two fish that are essentially the same species of fish are producing additional fish of their species that for some reason are not surviving, even though the original fish are doing fine. It's really confusing why some species that seem the same aren't compatable, and some that you wouldn't think would be compatable right off the bat, are.
I'm also still having trouble with magic fish showing up as magic fish. Is there a specific level you need to reach before they show up as magic?
Anyway, sorry again for my bad mood, and attitude yesterday.
