I'd like to be able to continue to elevate villagers to elder without a cap -- even if the maximum number of headstones or totums is 50, villagers should still be able to get the title if they've earned the skills.

I'd like to be able to designate my own set of names (which would be assigned at random and would be gender specific), that way I wouldn't have to keep hunting down the kids and changing their names.

I'd like to see the children who have inherited skills labeled as 'apprentice farmer (or scientist, etc)' rather than listed as if they have no skill.

It would be great if the kids who had inherited farmer skills to automatically harvest mushrooms, and for those directed to harvest a mushroom to gain some farming skill.

It would be great if kids who had inherited science skills to automatically pick up bugs, butterflies & rocks ... and for the other kids to gain skill by picking them up.

It would be great if I could specify clothing for specific roles and specific skill levels -- or could leave it random, depending on how I wanted to interact with my village.

If the villagers spend days building irrigation for their crops in VV3, it would be really great for them NOT to constantly haul water (what was the point of irrigation if they still have to bring bowls of water to the crops). Instead, let's let them farm using manual irrigation until they've reached a technology level that allows them to build irrigation (at this point they should no longer be hauling water).

It should make couples, no random mating. You match up the people and that is their partner. It also should be able to keep track of the generations on its own. The game should be able to show the full village family tree. That would be much easier. THen while you look at the tree you match two villagers up for life.

I'd like to be able to re-name a tribe after it's beginning. For example I would like to give my tribe the name of the 1st Elder as "The Kokopu's tribe" but I can't if I don't know his name!! So it must be after I start the new tribe! (I'd love to re-name my tribe "La Cascata" in "Aika's Tribe" ;\) )

I love the vv games but i would LOVEE it if after the parents put their children down hey recognized them i have tried to put them together it says this villager is not old enough for this! and it would be really nice to be able to have organized families. I also love the idea of hunting but i dont think it should be like they are gone for a year but i think it should be done the same way as fishing or harvesting crops and also more technologies would be nice so after u have all the puzzles ur not just stuck! Cant wait to see it!
Thanx Kayla

I agree, I think it would be cool to have different weather. I also think that there should be a some kind of nursery for the babies to go so that the mother's can wprk. Also I think it would be cool to give villagers a uniform for what ever profession they may have. Does anyone know when virtual villagers 3 is coming out?

I love all three games but the thinkg i must like about virtual villgers is that i create my own story based on the family background of a certain villager which i have to keep track of by giving every one last names. I believe this would be a lot easier if you had a family tree linking them to like the first 7 villgers that you first start off with so that i would be exciting to see what happed to their kin. It will also be cool if you could get married. p.s. Please put this in the new game.

My first post here. Thanks to Arthur and Carla and everyone at LDW for great games. My retired mom and I spent this afternoon reviewing previous Forum suggestions for VV3, and came up with our own list (seconding some of the previous suggestions):

1. Advanced building opportunities: Occasional cataclysms, weather events that destroy/damage huts or other works (e.g., dams) will provide interest and provide much-needed building opportunities in advanced game play.

2. Fishing: Perhaps dragging villagers to deeper waters allows for bigger or more exotic fish, perhaps also increasing risk (sharks, riptides). Would love to see some/more of the fish variety from FT show up in VV3.

3. Hunting/Foraging: Advanged hunting/foraging could take a (skilled) villager off screen, with some risk. Return with exotic seeds? Return with big game? Return with disease? Not return at all? Return with mate from another part of the island?

4. Inheritance. You guys have done so much with genetics in FT and PT, it would be great to see some of that in VV, in terms of heritable skills and/or appearance.

5. More fun with stews: Stews are a fabulous innovation, but since they're kind of labor-intensive (and since the combintions are so numerous), it would nice to be able to keep track within the game -- a recipe book with ingredients (and outcomes) tried, perhaps? Also, I'd rather have found hints for essential stews (breathing stew, healing stew) on the island itself, rather than on a spoilers web page, though I doubt I'd ever have solved the last puzzle in VV2 without external spoilers.

6. Functions: On detail screen, would be nice to be able to search for villagers by name or skill type/level.

7. Use tech points to buy hints for puzzles?

8. Collections are fun. As others have suggested, perhaps add more? (beads, flowers, feathers, etc.) It would also be nice to achieve something on completion of a collection, e.g., the ability to use collected items in artwork, adornment, medicine, perhaps?

9. Sewing hut is terrific! Would be nice to be able to select style and color of outfits independently, and a different pricing model would be nice, i.e., less expensive to buy a new shirt, more expensive to by an elaborate outfit, perhaps limit some fancy outfits to Masters or Elders only.

10. More island (or gong-induced) events! e.g., wild animals carry off a child, lightning burns down a hut, stranger arrives from another part of the island.

11. Puzzle idea -- use driftwood to build a boat for... deep water fishing? Exploration? Connect with VV1 or VV2 villages (dependent on prior purchase of same)?

12. Allow skilled villagers to breed fish in pond or lagoon, plants in garden?

13. Family trees is a nice idea (perhaps limited to 2-3 generations, if display space is a consideration), as is restricting immediate family members from interbreeding.

Thanks again for great work! Can't wait for VV3.

with 768 posts previous to this (unless someone squeaks in before I hit SUBMIT) I don't know if this has been mentioned before or not but one thing I hope gets enhanced is the ability to scroll through the villagers with the arrow keys while I am in the DETAILS screen. It would make changing a group/tribes prefs. or renaming them a whole lot easier and quicker. When I am doing a massive prefs change it is a bit annoying to move the mouse to the NEXT arrow and then over to the prefs to change. I could go through this task much faster if I had one hand on the arrow keys and one on my mouse in the prefs area \:D
