My poor little Ulla has disappeared forever. She was the fourth of the orignal 7 villagers and she was elderly.

I turned on the game (this tribe was on pause cause they are a newer set and both the doctors wound up pregnant when my back was turned! so didn't want to leave them alone)

There was Ulla's skeleton at the food bin:(. I unpaused it and the skeleton moved close to the research area (Where mine always are) and it disappeared! No one picked it up and I went to the graveyard and no tombstone for Ulla. I went out of the game and back in and still no Ulla, bones or gravestone.

Maybe she died before you paused :P

She could have. However, does this mean she doesnt get a tombstone?

Yes, villagers will disappear after 24 hours if they are not buried. It keeps skeletons from remaining in the village too long if they are unable to be buried, for some reason.

If you have fifty gravestones already, only the first fifty villagers that have gone to "the higher side of life" get them. Otherwise, with a full tribe, going nonstop for months, there wouldn't be enough space for everyone's gravestone.

Since the departed villager in this instance is the 4th of the original villagers, it's highly unlikely that there are already 50 graves.

Yeah cuz I tribe died cuz I forgot to pause and I left them there and the next morning the skeletons were gone
