I've noticed that the more villagers I have, the gender disproportion seems to become more evident. I have way more males than females in my village.

Currently, I have 30 villagers right now. 6 of them are kids. With 24 adults remaining, only 6 of them are females. The rest (18 of them) are males! That's 3x the amount of guys on the island. It's been this way on my island for a long time.

Is this the same with anyone else??

I've had it be just the opposite, and I've had it be almost 50/50 males and females. I think every game is just a little different.

I've played the game at least 5 times, and each time there's more guys than girls. I wonder if it has to do with the Palm? My Palm has always produced more guys than girls :P

That's pretty funny, Gemelle! I wonder how it would do that!?! Have you ever started a game with more females than males? Maybe that has an effect on the gender mix throughout the game? Or maybe it's all just random, and you're incredibly "lucky"? hee hee

Maybe you should send your Palm back and ask for one with a bit less testosterone in it

It can take some effort to get them to breed at the beginning of the game. Keep after them, and they will cave! Attaining higher levels of Fertility helps to ease the situation. Until then, persistence pays off!

I had the opposite problem at first with my new village: I had a lot of females and almost all the children were little girls! Now there's more balance.

I'm trying to go on with a population of about 15, as the first village, with 65 people that I didn't anymore know by name, and the GC running around making parties an doing magic was a little confusing...
Now I can name everyone on Isola, instead!

Grace

P.S. my login doesn't work, after logging in, I'm welcomed as Grace, then when I enter the forum I'm logged out... anyone help, please...

I generally start off the game with more females than males. And then suddenly, I'll always end up with more males than females once the game matures.

This is my third start and finally things are going right. Had a bit of a risky spot. I didn't realize my first generation would die off so quickly. I was trying to be mindful of the food situation and not get too many kids running around and not contributing. I check back in over lunch and I see that all but one of the first generation men are dead. I check the kids, no males! Gramps is 55, his guy friends died in their early 50's. I had two women in the second generation and two girls in the third. I put Gramps into action and after 10 minutes of drop and drag I finally got two new babies. Of course, you don't know the gender of the babies until they're two so I didn't know if I had a boy. Gramps died promptly after that event. Fortunately, there was a boy in generation four. And then to really overkill it, the bucket of babies washed ashore and now I have three boys scampering about. I'm glad those random events come along to save your bacon when things go bad!

That's what is supposed to happen. The Island Events are supposed to be kinder and gentler when things are going badly in your village. It doesn't always work that way, but the intent is to help salvage a perilous game situation.
