I have two tribes on VV2 and both have completed all the tasks so I am now busying myself with the collections. I have one rock and one shell in one tribe and one beetle and one shell in the other. The question I have is do I have to pick up every item that comes along eve if I already have it? I have wondered if the other items would only arrive if I actively picked up every one. Does that make sense?

The apparitions of the items are, as for the mushrooms, totally random and independent. I don't think that what you do with them will change anything. I think so.

Yes, I'm sure that the appearance of collectibles is totally random, as laurence says. I'll generally swoop on all collectibles I spot just to keep in practice, as it were, but I shouldn't think that ignoring them or otherwise would make any difference.

I wasn't sure if no more would appear while one was sitting there. Although I did have a strange thing earlier. I put one of my children on a rock but she was one of those annoying villgers who doesn't like running do she started to plod away really slowly. But then, almost immediately, the same coloured rock appeared from where she had picked it up. I put another child on it and he picked it up but the one the girl was carrying vanished!

I don't really mind waiting - it gives me something to do while I wait for my plants in Plant Tycoon to grow.
