I tried it. Seems to work. And it's not just the collection items. It either has one of the collection items appear rather quickly or a mushroom.

Oh I am SOOOO glad I checked out this forum! I've been playing a long time, without help. I've got a really good tribe, really stable ect. I just can't "complete" it because I am missing ONE butterfly (of course a rare one)!!!!! I've been sitting for countless hours trying to get it. I timed the "hint" and its about 1 per minute which is WAY better than the 5 or less, per hour that I was getting. MAYBE now I will get that butterfly!!!!

I did the same thing! I thought you had to put the kid on the little island on the right. No wonder I didn't see any difference when I tried it.

At least, placing them on each other ("Embracing") seem to block them for a while. ^^

I tried it again today, using the correct spot, but I'm still not seeing a difference.

I'm not sure that it really does. But I won't dispute it! I've tried it too and it doesn't seem to help. I've heard that putting a kid on the bare spot by the black plant does it, to drop kids on the pink insects in the graveyard. etc.

It may work for some. For me, it does work.

I don't know, halldog. Wouldn't that mean that they coded the software to do it? I just don't see that they took the time to write the code so that if you put a child in that spot (who immediately runs away), that triggers the software to start pumping out more collectables.

It may be that the time chasing a kid and moving them to that spot takes up enough time for a new collectable to appear. If you were just sitting there waiting, it would seem to take forever. But since you were busy, that time slipped away very quickly so it just feels like moving the kid there makes them come faster.

I do know for a fact that actively getting the collectables does speed them up, but I think that may simply be because the 75 second waiting time is cut short by the kid getting the collectable. So with that time being cut short, it feels like the next collectable came faster.

Having said that, if it's working for you, then enjoy! I didn't write the code so who knows if it indeed written to do that. After all, they also added the easter egg for the menu screen with the dragonflies. So why not have a "faster collectables" trigger area?

I see what you're saying, and I've had the game on pause when a collectible came up (just to make sure it worked) and when I unpaused it, there was another collection item 25 to 30 seconds after.

Try timing them for a few hours to see if there's any difference. I used my iPhone's lap timer to figure out how long it takes for a collectable to appear after the last one has disappeared.

The collectables, no matter which one (including mushrooms) stay on the screen for 75 seconds. If you don't have a kid collect the collectables, then the next one will appear anywhere from 15 seconds to about 3-4 minutes.

However, once I started letting the kids collect them, it seemed the next one came pretty fast. But there were times that took a few minutes before the next one appears. I didn't try to run a timer on that so I can't say for sure. But I still think even when you collect them, they don't appear faster, it just seems that way because you're busy. It's amazing how long even 15 seconds is when you're just waiting for a certain pebble to finally show up!

I agree. I don't believe they'd have bothered to code such a routine in such a complicated way. If they wanted such a thing (during testing, perhaps), they'd have used a function key or a keystroke combination. That's what happened with the F6 key in VV1, anyway.

I don't believe it works either. It's just that you keep yourself busy moving the kids. That's why you feel time is shorter.
