Idea I like to point out is...
Areas/explore - like Fog of War on Command & Conquer where you have to explore the area to find the enemy make it where when you advance the explore level more Land is revealed

this can also make it where you can have more updates of the game too like to add a new area for cool new objects and fun will be available.
Ages of tech - Bronze age to Iron age kind of thing. Make it where you level up a tech like experience Expample being...
Bronze Age(level 1 Tech) -
Exp - 000 - Garden Tools
Exp - 300 - Cutting Tools
Exp - 600 - Fishing Tools
Exp - 900 - Building Tools
Iron Age(level 2 Tech Exp 1,000) -
Exp - 1100 - Rakes(Garden)
Exp - 1200 - Saws(building & Cutting)
Exp - 1300 - Nets(Fish)
Exp - 1500 - Furniture Tools(Tables, Chairs)
Exp - 1700 - Windows(buildings)
....and so on names can be changed and all i just using a example....
Craftsman for a new skill so they can build Tools and Cool little gizmos of sorta plus making furniture like tables and chairs in later tech levels.
