One of my female villagers who is a breeder kissed one of the males and they started to go indoors. Well I interupted them and put them back at the research table because I have 0 food now because of an event. Well right there at the research table a baby appeared in her arms. Has this ever happened to you?

That will happen often if you interrupt villagers after they kiss. The "outcome" is determined at the time you hear the kissing sound (check the village population to see if it increased or not). The trip to the hut is there to add ambience to the game, but is not necessary for producing baby villagers. When you interrupt that trip, you essentially cause the game to immediately display the baby that was produced at the time of the kiss.

\:D I figure they have an incredibly short pregnancy. It lasts the length of the walk from the kiss to the hut.

The same couple just had another baby as soon as the last one turned two. He did not even make it to the hut and she already came out with a new baby.

It's especially funny if one parent is a runner. They will often disappear into the loveshack, come out, and go back to work or start nursing the baby before their partner has even reached the door. It's even more pronounced if one is a runner and the other dislikes running or is elderly. \:\)

SPOILER:

Lol. Thank you for explaining that. I had that happen IN the lagoon, and thought that the lagoon influenced them (I had tried to pull them apart to prevent breeding) because the lagoon has those magical properties and such, and she walked out, and there's a baby in her arms. I thought, "OH, ...." you fill in the blank, lol.
