I don't think so, and I've completed the game several times. While the cauldron is fun and sort of important, the fishing is more important, IMHO!

There is no age limit to breeding in VV1. In VV2, once they reach age 50, the females can no longer bear children.

As for the cauldron, it depends upon how you want to play. I often get the cauldron before Farming L3, and rely on stew to keep my villagers healthy if food supplies get low for some reason, even though they have the farm. Picking a few mushies lets me make a stew that will really help the peeps. Of course, you have to be keeping an eye on things to prevent disaster. \:D

Ok I am just in a bad position my VV2 were almost dead with only 2 villagers left both female then they got a boy in an event Now they won't stop breeding I'm up to 10 villagers and they can barley get by with what they have

My Vv1 on the other hand will not breed at all no matter what I do and they have plenty of food

I always do. After Engineering, Exploration is the second L3 tech I always go for. Partly, it must be said, that is because it is relatively few tech points. As Barbara says, the 'healing' stew is useful if your villagers start to run low on food.

I thought you get the cauldron on the second level of exploration. I've been reading this forum for a few days and it always seem like everybody is getting theirs on the third.

I think arnie meant L2 (because L3 isn't cheap). L2 does give you the cauldron.
