I was trying to come up with a name for a character on an online game (a "text based mmorpg" if you will, before there *were* mmorpgs) I liked the name "Kayla" but I wanted something a little more exotic, so I changed the "K" to an "X". Xayla was born. I've used it as my username since. However, Xay is easier to type, so it just got shortened.
