[SPOILER] Old Friends

I've just had the 'Old Friends' event in one of my villages. Two villagers from the VV1 village fell down the waterfall. The village is a 'mature' one and has probably seen half a dozen generations since it was founded, so the new villagers are scarcely 'old friends'; no-one they meet will know much about the old village, apart from legend!
I know that certain events are reserved for late on in the game; are there similar events for the beginning? Perhaps this particular event would have been better if it were reserved for an early game. The addition of two new villagers to an already crowded village is no big deal, but in a new village struggling to get running, every pair of hands is especially valuable.

Yes, I've had the event several times now. I can only remember it happening in a relatively new village, though. The two newcomers in this case were a trainee parent (male) and a trainee builder (female). Hardly skill sets that are needed in a mature village, when all the building work is completed and population is at the maximum!

That event has saved one of my tribes by coming later than usual. A couple of times I remember that this event occurred just after the last of the two original people died.

I have had this event early on both tribes, right as I think it's safe to have a baby because they are half way to the points to having the fish or before.
I've never seen a barrel of babies. Is this a VV2 event? I've been running one trip almost a 1000 hours and haven't had a Isola day event either. I had one really early on the new tribe.

I just got this event again in a fairly new village (21, now 23 villagers). They are working to get L3 Engineering so everyone is at the research table apart from one nursing mother and a runner who is manfully feeding everyone as an adept farmer. The two who arrived were Malo, 24, a trainee parent, and Amina, who is 29 and a trainee doctor. Before I was able to identify Malo, he announced his arrival by kissing one of the lady villagers! Very forward, considering they hadn't had time to be introduced yet! She might have been a relation, though - she was the woman who first fell down the waterfall, now 63. That meant, of course, we didn't get any more babies "by accident". I'll have to keep a sharp eye on Malo, to see that he doesn't get too friendly with the younger girls.

I've just had the event again in the same village as last time! (March 9) The village is now mature (91 villagers). One 'old friend' is Bindi,25; she's a trainee parent. The other is Ponui, also 25, who is a trainee doctor. They have the same training as their predecessors but with their genders reversed.
