Hi all. I am new here too, so I hope I am posting this correctly. My eldest son got me hooked on VV2 and plant tycoon, then I had to get VV1. I too had my first villagers die from starvation, then found the forums and tips on how the puzzles work. they helped tremendously! I would still be killing them off if not for the forums
I now have both VV1 and VV2 with all puzzles completed and at max population. I just can't shut it off and let them die!
So now I am having fun breeding different hair color (blondes on VV2, pink on VV1. I also like it when they have triplets. I found that if I turn off my breeders, let the pop go down a bit, I have more success with "selective breeding" I still have 3 collections to finish. I just completed the bugs and found that it increases the pop max by 5. that's fun. However I found that I do not get anymore elders totems, so it seems pointless to change around their skills (except it keeps them gathering food etc) but food is approaching max now, I doubt they will ever go hungry.
I wish there was more to do now, I just check in on them a few times a day.
