Hi,

I love this game. Our holiday weekend will forever be remembered by my family's obsession with this game! Everything we do keeps getting interrupted by "Oh! We better check on our crew!" (the crew being the villagers). My husband is over it and just wants his palm back (too bad and why won't it work on my zire 72?) and my son's (10) and my philosophies/strategies are different and so we are constantly arguing (er, debating) over who should do what and when.

Anyway, one question: Does anyone keep track of the villagers lineage? I wonder do we need to worry about inbreeding and the unhealthy consequences? I keep trying to get the younger women (with lesser skills) to be parents, thinking they can build their skilles later but am worried about inbreeding, seems like the same couple of males are always the fathers and so maybe courting their daughters and grand-daughters. This can't be good.

Along that line, I'm disturbed in my anti-feminist views that I am starting to strategize that the girls should not be brought up to be researchers because then so much of their productive time is lost when they spend those two years nursing. I'm thinking I want the males to be at the table -- the research table--while the women do all the fishing and building.

My husband has proposed that the golden child will be the 7th son of the 7th son, in which case we are in trouble because we don't know who begot whom.

Any thoughts on this?

well, honestly, it doesn't really matter who you breed with. I know there are a few users that have tried to keep track of lineage, and just gave up when babies were born overnight. No way to know then!
I've been told that some Villagers will run from others- perhaps this is a in-breeding defense mechanism?

I just wouldn't worry about it... have fun!

Hello crewchief!

If you consider it too much, the blood-lines will drive you crazy. Some villagers do consistently run away from certain other villagers, but I have never two that I couldn't force to **kiss** if I was persistent. I like to secure the food supply, then turn one or two of my males into master parents. This helps the village continue on without as much hands-on interaction, and assuages my innate awareness of personal male chauvenism.

I always thought the Golden Child would be the 7th daughter of the 7th son of the Dalai Lama's personal manicurist, but it just didn't turn out that way. She looked more like Wonder Woman's bald disciple.

Anyway, it's a great game with lots of creative variations and possibilities, as you and your son have found out.

I actually kept track of the bloodline for my VERY 1st village. It got kind of crazy. You can see what happened in my 1st village by visiting here.
