I have been playing VV 1 for a very long time, and I have a special question. At the time when I got the little golden boy, I didn't have any very old villagers. the old ones were dead and buried. I was kind of used to the younger villagers contacting the older villagers from time to time to chat etc. But at this point, my villagers became very fond of a young teenage girl. They hardly never contact any other villagers than her, and she is preoccupied almost all the time waiting for other villagers to get to her and praise, tell jokes, stories chat etc. etc.

Her name is Natasha, and she is wearing a red dress with some pattern, and a cap that matches the dress. Is this girl anything special, and if so why?

PS. I use her as my avatar, so you can see
what she looks like.

It sounds like she is simply the alpha villager. There is no special role or activity for a specific villager, other than the Golden Child, of course.

Yes that is something that happened in all my villages too. It's generaly the oldest villager of the tribe who seems to be chosed by the others each time they have something to say! When he/she die, it's the next oldest who is the new one.
It seems that our villagers like to confide, to joke (and even to teach) or just to talk with the elders!

(it could be why in VV2, they do that with the totems!! \:D )

Oh my! I didn't know this was a "spoiler". I hope I have done nothing wrong, sorry. Like laurence says, it's generally the older ones who have this role. That's why it puzzles me that they now massively choose a very young person.

You didn't do anything wrong. \:\) We tag threads that contain spoiler information as a courtesy to people who may want to avoid discussions that reveal too much about the game's puzzles.

The spoiler was the mention of the GC, who is a key part of the game and several puzzles. Many people are still new to the game and may not want to know that there is such a person in the game.

Oh, thanks for making this clear. I just felt I had to mention it, because this is when all this interest in the young girl started, and I still don't understand all of this "alpha" talk. Isn't "alpha" males/females something monkeys have, and not people? LOOOOL! \:\)

As I also wrote: From the start it was a male. And if I made the women choose themselves by clicking the Breeding skill, they always chose a certain male. Isn't it rare, that it's a girl, and then so young?

They have both an alpha male and an alpha female. There doesn't seem to be any reason (to us) why a particular villager becomes the alpha, although as laurence says, it is often one of the elders. There is a distinct 'pecking order' that can be seen particularly in the female villagers. The men will first of all look for the alpha female to kiss but if she is nursing a baby they'll go for the next in line; if she's also nursing, they'll try the next, and so on ...

I open VV1 and see I have a 72 years old villager who is carrying a baby \:\?
As she is the oldest of the tribe every body goes to speak to her as I said above. She listens them with the baby in her arms and it's very cute but I guess she blocks his ears sometime!! Poor baby!

Thanks for all your answers. If it is right what laurence says, that they go to speak to the oldest. Well, that's why I am still very puzzled, that they have chosen a teenagegirl, and everybody flock to her. They don't even pay any of the elder people any attention anymore.

I don't believe the alpha villagers are always the oldest. In general it is, but I have personally had several villagers that appeared to be alpha who were not the oldest.

No, they most definitely are not, although often they are.

I think maybe a GC boy and girl would be cool in VV3, although not so many parties, etc. Or maybe a "genetic" type of person that was born with a crown on his/her head...

Ya, I think there should be a designated Leader of the Tribe or King or Queen or something!

Yeah, you're right. I really DO imagine her to be a princess/queen, as she is still very young. A leader of the same sort or even better two would be optional, and then - as you write not so many parties. They could forward other events perhaps, and not so often. \:\)

I think that the optional idea is a good one. I think that it would be good if you could choose whether or not to have a leader, and then choose again if you wanted one or two leader(s). The first thing that popped into my mind was Elizabeth I, the Queen of England, because she never married.

A golden child is in the VS game and VV1. It was one of the puzzles and marked the "end" of your game.

I like to inject alittle of my own culture in my game. So I chose a Sultan and Sultanan for the tribe. Still wish there was a camel about....

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I really don't care for the GC myself. If he/she is brought back however, I am sure Arthur and company choses to grace us with his/her presence or its counterpart...
* Mocha on bended knee with tears streaming down her face, begging "PLEASE DON'T!"*
...then I am sure there will be a good reason for it.
*I promise a box of homemade mocha and white mocha chip cookies if you don't. Just tell me where to send the box, ok?*
And I would also hope if said creature (cough, cough) returns, it will have a more meaningful role to the tribe. Maybe be the spiritual leader, teacher, grow up, marry and have its own little goldies ruuning about (good L-rd! what am I saying?)

Actually, even people have alpha males and/or females. Depending on the culture, it's usually the male, however, in some societies, it's the female (as in the head of house).

My own family tends to have alpha females. If a man tries to say we should do something, we usually just look at him and laugh, or say, "That was cute", and go on our merry way. We are a very strong alpha female family. Has been since at least my great grandmother.

I've been noticing an interesting trend in my tribe in regards to the Alpha Male/Female. Mine doesn't seem to go by the oldest. Mine seem to pick the most able doctor. My first was the Master Doctor (a male), and after he recently died (this saddened me so much. I left the game to get some sleep, and I came back, and four out of my five eldest, including my only runner, had died) the village seems to have chosen the next most able doctor, a female. Though, she's only an adept doctor, not a Master Doctor, she seems to have the most ability to focus and gain skills quickly.

Whereas, I've been noticing that my dumbest villagers, all seem to be builders. It's been very frustrating trying to do puzzles that require building, or even just building new huts! The progress goes SOOOOOOOOO SLOOOOOOOWLY!!!!
