If no one in the village has breeding checked will they still mate and have babies? I finished all the puzzles and just playing to see what will happen. Also, does the golden child ever grow old? Sorry if these have been posted before, I did a search but could not find anything.
Thanks

From reading the forum it seems that they might reproduce if they are bored.

A villager can and does perform any task (including breeding) that they have some skill in, whether or not you have selected that particular skill as the preferred one. In general they show a preference toward doing things they are good at, so they might not always do the task that you have checked as their preferred skill.

There is also a strong 'futility' hidden skill that causes them to keep pushing that $#%^& boulder!

Hi,
I've been playing Village Sim "forever" - let's see, it says 1401 hours! All the puzzles are solved - I needed some help (thanks!) and had to restart the game one time to solve one puzzle.

Anyway - I enjoy keeping the village going. It's been my experience that the villagers will not breed unless they get a little "encouragement". I usually have two guys set up with breeding as their preference. Sometimes I have two women set up with that as their primary skill too. Then, when the population is low enough, I drag the "breeders" onto other people (different gender) until you hear that "kissy" sound and they go into the hut. Sometimes it takes a little bit of time. I do this until the breeders have "trainee" status on breeding. Then they'll go off and do it themselves, periodically, and your village population will be maintained.

One other note - I always play my game on the easy setting.

Thanks for everyone's help. I don't want a population explosion--it happened when I checked breeding as their preferred skill. I almost ran out of food. It is sometimes frustrating to sit there and try to convince a villager s/he needs to learn a skill.
