Here's a little hint I got from playing VV2, if you get a mushroom, put your game on pause and then put all the children you have on the mushroom. They will all pick the mushroom so you will get double, triple etc food depending how how many children you get on in time, as it dissappears fairly fast. When you unpause the game, you should find that the kids already on the mushroom will still take their's to the food bin.

Why thank you Oldboy!
That tip is quite useful,
and just goes to show
that I knew less than usual.

I also learned that you should teach your villagers to know hot to farm a little bit so when you have no food and only a little bit of crops left, then you can put all your villagers onto the food and they will all pick the little bit of food left.

I tried that,(I mean putting more that one child on a mushroom or collectable) unfortunatly, it didn't work for me. But as VictOria says, the last say 100 food crops put as many as you can on them, while ther's crops, they can still be picked.

Hi colourmemagic, not sure why it wont work for you, are you playing the PC version? If not it maybe different, not sure. Also it might just be you didn't get them on in time i.e. before the mushroom "goes" though you can still see it for a few seconds after it's not possible to put more kids on, so when you unpause, the one's already on it take it to the food bin. I think thats how it works anyway, maybe Lady will clarify? Please ... ;\)

It worked with the collectibles with me, when you pause and put two kids on the one thing. It didn't quite work with the mushrooms though.

This works especially good on red mushrooms, get 5 or more kids on it and you're laughing all the way to the food bank

Becca talks about the collectibles so she's playing VV2. It works with the mushrooms in VV1.

Hi Arnie, I havn't played vvII for a while but I'm certain I used to put multi kids on mushrooms, that's were I got the idea from. I remember getting 10 kids on a red when I was really low on food. Saved the day, \:\)

I'm playing the pc ver. Even if I only put to children on mushrooms it still doesn't work, but i'll keep trying, thanks.

In VV2, I've found that you need to pile three kids onto a mushroom or collectable and you'll get two mushrooms or collectables. It's kind of strange, but if you put only two children on it, you'll still only get one.
In short, in VV2, you need to follow this formula: The number of mushrooms or collectables is equal to the number of children minus one. \:\)

(NOTE: This doesn't apply to a collectable if it is uncommon or rare and hasn't been found before.)

WHen I play the two oldest always get left out, so to get multiples, I have to pile at least 4 kids on the mushroom or collectable - although new uncommon and rare collectables don't have the same rule.

I thought Mushroom Trick doesn't work on VV2.

It doesn't work the same way. But you can drop multiple kids and get multiple pick ups.

Oh dear, I just realized I made a big mistake in my explanation. You need to pile four kids for two mushrooms.... faulty memory... sorry!!!

The two oldest will always walk away with nothing when you are piling them all on one mushroom. I like to think that they are teaching the younger ones. - that is for VV2 though.

In VV1, all children will pick one up. If you put two on the mushie, you get two mushies.

VV1:

When my villagers got low on food, and wouldn't always plant new crops on their own (they were tending to run out of food and started starving themselves when I "quit" the game), I finally made the decision to buy the third level of farming tech (I'd been trying to hold out, because I wanted the third level of construction instead). This taught them to fish, and gave them an infinite food supply. Now when I quit the game, I don't have to worry about them running low on food, because they automatically fish, and even plant and harvest crops. This also seems to help the scientists continue their research, because they're not pacing back and forth, "worrying about food".

Sorry for the double post. I went to edit, only to find there's no edit button.

Anyway, I tried that mushroom trick, just to see if it would work, and cool! It did.

Yeah sorry guys, I did forget to mention that not all the kids stay on. Hadn't worked out about the 2 oldest kids tho, so that was interesting to know, I just thought it was random.

That's right for VV2! But in VV1, all the kids may pick it up (except if it too late! \:\/ )
