i'm new and if these have been answered then my apologies.
1) does the time speed effect anything other than how quickly they age or when the nursing moms can get back to work?
seems to me they aren't learning anything any faster (slower if thats possible) seems everything else but age stays the same.

2) i started up my first vv2 game yesterday, still on my original folks (plus a few) and i got what i've noticed you guys calling a "runner" ... how can i get more of those?? i need more before that one dies on me lol

this one i don't actually expect answers for, only comments on your same issues with it lol ... why won't they stay doing what you told them to? before coming to post this i left my runner cutting briars, i go back to check for collectibles and he's doing laundry.. why do they even DO laundry?? it's like after 10 people they suddenly got tons of dirty clothes (tho they never change)

also i had 2 hours this morning to come up with some ideas for vv3, most i read in that topic, some are mine, but all in ways i think they could really be worked into the game without making it "modern".. should i put them all in one long post or several shorter ones (per idea)?

oh, i cheated my way thru vv1 (thinking this was closer to being like FT or PT) so i missed ALOT of stuff, i'll play it again the right way,. but now i'm into vv2, playing "by the book" so to speak.

now why does my trainee doctor who is going around studying plants keep getting herself stuck walking between trees or the dam & farm? no matter where i put her, she'll go back to one of those spots an it still says studying plants but she's just pacing back and forth.

any help from anyone will be greatly GREATLY welcome..
i'll send my peeps over to hug you ;\) and thanks in advance ;\)

1 It will take days for your villagers to finish certain tasks. however i don't recommend time travel as it can seriously mess the game up!

2. Runenrs are random ;\)

As to what they're doing the villagers won't do it untill they have skill in that field. trian the villagers tor "Trainee" In a field such as Farming and they will stick to it \:\)

1) The game speed decides how quickly villagers age. If it's set on 2 X one hour real time is worth one year in Isola. So, in twelve hours a child of two will grow up to 14. At normal speed it's two hours = one Isola year. Similarly, mothers will nurse for 2 hours (two Isola years) before letting them go (at 2 X speed).
2. It's pure luck if you get a runner.

Although generally villagers will stick to their assigned task, like any normal people they need a break every now and then. For some reason lots of them find doing their laundry is therapeutic!

Thee problem with the doctors getting stuck every now and then is a minor _bug_. There is supposed to be an update coming out some time that will (hopefully) fix these sorts of little problems (some, at any rate).

I noticed when they exercise they get stuck running back and forth between the hostpital and the clothing hut, which stops them improving the building skill.

i knew that much about the speed thing, just wasn't sure if it had any effect on anything else. but thank you.
the runner thing sucks.. i'm going to work him to death then \:D
and i get needing a break, sort of. i mean i put them to farming the veggies and they do, one or two bowls later they wanna farm coconuts... or like building a hut, i put them doing that and after a rock or two they wanna go cut more briars
and now my doctor won't even study the flowers she just wants to go swimming... *sigh*

and i'm not messing with the clock with this one, i don't wanna miss anything.
but in trying to get the elder; my runner (since he does everything so quickly ) is already a master builder, and an adept farmer & researcher.. its like if he works to long at farming he'll help clear briars for awhile or research for awhile.. then go back to farming... hard to focus on one skill when they wanna do them all lol

The game speed affects far more than how fast villagers age. One of those areas is villager productivity (since in VV2 there is now an adjustment for game speed, which wasn't there in VV1). To see a more complete answer, look here.

Also affected by speed/time is the growth of the garden -- how much time it takes before harvesting a crop, and the amount of hours the fire runs before it needs to be relit. I know that I can't spend a great amount of time playing, but I don't like to turn the game off completely, so I keep it at 1/2 time all the time, and the fire stays lit for 39 Isola hours (I think it is 19 hours for normal time), which is more than enough for me to visit my village once a night without the fire going out. At the beginning of my first VV2 game I tried to rush the growing cycle by putting it on 2X without having reserve food ... NOT GOOD.... for the villagers eat twice as much LOL, and don't move twice as fast to collect it. You can set people to planting crops as an introduction to farming if you are short of food (they don't have to be farmers), and if they are ok with that, they will learn quickly to go fishing or collect coconuts soon thereafter while waiting for the crops.

Gotta love those runners! They're usually my first elders. Another way to quickly get a farmer to trainee is to set her on the coconut tree repeatedly, then when she starts to climb, whip her off & make her start again. It usually takes me betw 4 to 7 or 8 times (where she does climb) to get the trainee status.
Also, sometimes you'll get a villager who just plain doesn't want to work.

thanks everyone for the responses!!

1) LadyCFII the post you referred me to was what i was looking for, the time speed doesn't effect the folks' work/play habits (was hoping on 2x they'd learn a lil faster lol!)

2) runners being random sucks... but they can make it to elder quicker, nice compensation ;\)

3ish) they don't stay doing what you put them at just cuz they need a break/get bored.. that sucks, but i noticed when i just leave him alone let him do his thing with farming a coconut or two he comes back to harvesting crops (thank GOD it's the runner and he doesn't take long lol!)

4ish) no one has said, and maybe this is more directed at LadyCFII than i realize,. but should i put my ideas for vv3 in one post for them all together or seperate ones per idea? (i already know where to put them, just not sure of well format i guess..) which would be easier to read and appropriate?

and my apologies about the spoilers part in the subject LadyCFII.. don't mean to make you work more

It's really better to list your ideas in one post, in a manner similar to the way you listed your questions in this thread. That way they are easier to read. \:\)

We like runners, too, but if there were a lot of them, they wouldn't be special (and the entire game would change). \:\)
