I have VV1. Can anyone help me get some name ideas? I would like them to sound like unusual islands names.

Hmmmm...Although I spent a good deal of time in the pacific, I'm really not that good with names. One of the things I sometimes do for fun is simply reverse the spelling of names I know.
Example: James becomes Samej and Jamie becomes Eimaj.

You might also go to http://www.babynamesworld.com/category-polynesian-names.html or

http://www.babynamenetwork.com/baby_names/origins/Polynesian_baby_names.cfm

These two sites will give you some authentic island names and I'm sure there are others.

Have fun & enjoy your games \:\)

Rockmower have some great ideas for researching names. I'd also begun to make up my own, thought they still have more of an Middle Eastern feel.
Happy hunting and enjoy the game

There was a time when I went through naming my people that I went online and googled (searched) for Hawiian names. I found a list of baby names. It was great. \:D

If you go to this site: http://www.babynames.com/ you'll find plenty of names. Sometimes I use this site for name ideas to go in my non-villager writing. \:\)

Scroll down on the page and you'll find a collection of different backgrounds to look at.

When i first started playing this game, i named the villagers after people i knew and family members, even myself. But after they died, it was kind of freaky seeing my name and my sons names on the tombstones, so now i just change the names to something close to what they should sound like, like suki is susie, etc.
