I like the weather effects idea. I know it would be a bigger pain to program, but I'd like to SEE more of the special events in general.
My main suggestion would be to make the story a little more conclusive. I like that the game does not have an "end." But still, I would like to know exactly what happened to the guardian (find his/her remains and a message he/she wrote or something). Which as far as I know does not happen.
That is the only criticism I have of VV2, any other suggestions would just be to add to the game.
Pets/breedable animals someone suggested would be interesting too. Since there are prominent monkies in the help, maybe monkies that can actually get items neither adults or children can get.
Times of day would also be good. And the lack of sleeping struck me as quite odd. I mean they do "go indoors" and "nature calls." I think having some people sleep and some people be awake might be a good extra bit of planning you would do as the player, although if not done properly, that would just be a big annoyance. You can have someone be a "nightwatchman" to make sure animals don't steal food or cost you tech points, stuff like that.

It would be great to give the builders a worthwhile project to advance in their spare time - a latrine! You'd think our enterprising villagers would have thought of that before a sewing shed. I mean, the kids don't even use the bushes, and the adults don't seem to go at all! lol What's up with that?

I'd also love to see the kids learn from what they do - after all, a 13-year-old should know how to pick a mushroom after they've been doing it for years and years, yet they continue to run through them, sit on them, etc. Maybe a few "starter" points for that?

in view of the fact that vv and vv2 have become so popular. and people are chomping at the keyboard for vv3, are you working on vv4,5. i can see virtual villagers going to 5 games. one on the south, north, east, west and finally meeting up in the middle of the island. i know i would buy it. vv3 is on my list to be bought a.s.a.p. i just love my little people. OOOH the possiblities.

I think that kids should get a teeny amount of research skill for collecting multiples of the collectables.
