I have no idea why this is happening... but I've thrown my elder totem all over that mosaic and no gong piece. I've put it exactly in the middle of that mosaic and NOTHING. ARGH PLEASE HELP ME!

Yea I've tried that... many many times. AND a lil off to the left and a lil off to the right and the top and the bottom and EVERYWHERE. I have the mosaic completely uncovered, I have everything else complete except for this one last puzzle. THIS IS VERY ARGHHHHH

Please check the version number on the menu screen of your game and let me know what it says.

This has happened to me a few times as well. If you have another totem, try that one as well. That is how I usually get that to work for me. I am also going to ask a silly question, the mosaic is completely restored, right?

It's not necessarily that, Gamey. There are versions of the game out there that won't allow that puzzle to be solved. That's why I asked about the version number.

For some reason, no one seems to notice this thread in the sticky section. That might explain your problem. But, LadyCFII knows more than I do, so it may depend on version number.

Yes, I remember there was a thread on this subject awhile ago. Just thought I would throw out a different suggestion as well since there has been times that I drop like crazy in the most tightest of grid patterns and nothing happens for me either. I have had to use different totems to get it to work.
