Is there a way to use the expanded screen for Village Sim?

When I open the slider, the text entry window opens and i cant "hide" it...

Doubtful. Unless the LDW software developers coded for an expanded screen, it's unlikely that there is anything "there" for you to see.

My own T3 refuses to return books of any sort to the unexpanded view, so perhaps you're better off this way. Frankly, I think the expansion gig it a bit over rated.

You are correct. Village Sim occupies only the 320x320 portion of 320x480 devices.
