I think kids should be in school at least part of the day. I don't think they should automatically hunt collectables/mushrooms, this is where WE should come in. This is a game and we need to keep all the actual interaction we can get. As a matter of fact it would be nice to have MORE random actions we control like this.
Breeding should be controllable. I'll often find one of my most important tribe members with the greatest skill levels nursing when I need them most. I go to bed and wake up to 6 new kids to be fed. It reminds me too much of the real world when tribe continue to breed when they can even feed the kids they have!
Famlies should be identifiable more easily. I may not be doing this right but every time one of my tribe members have a kid while I'm away I have a hard time telling whose child it is - then later in the game as they have grown I don't know if syblings are mating (shiver). Could this be the reason for some of these poor kids being so ugly? If we could at least know who parented the child we could give them last names to keep track. Family members (Mom, Dad, Brothers and sisters) should connect and socialize.
And Last (for now) I think a "Happy Meter" should be there too. All work and no play makes for an unhappy villager. Ranking higher is good but for an extra challange we should be forced to make sure they get some down time too (in order to be a good "hand god").
Many of these options may already be available in VV2 that I don't know about. I'm still a newbie in VV1 by most standards and I refuse to jump forward into VV2 without finishing all the puzzles in the first one. So if I'm way off here please someone let me know. I'll take no offense and be gratefull for the info.
Blessed Be!

LOL. I agree. I think whoever has problems with the hygiene thing needs to stop watching "Monk" to much.

\:\) $@m, do you do Plant Tycoon? You should see them, they're great. The clothes style doesn't matter, I just like to see new ones. The important thing is the new hairstyles, & most of all the actions of the figures. They cross their arms, put hands on hips, stoop over to look at something--other things I can't remember. PT is the kind of game you don't watch (except in the store), like VV, you just set something & then leave it alone to do its thing.

I think that villagers should be able to interact with eachother. You can't make them interact, except with children. You should make more options, such as talk, tell joke, give shells. I also think that there should be shells to trade for clothing, tools, etc. in place of tech points. Villagers can earn shells from any succesful tasks. I think there should be animals, famlies/groups of villagers on the island, different foods, different abilities and that's all I can think of now. Oh and relationship points would be great, too!

It's funny to me that someone else would mention this. While I enjoyed the latest version of Plant Tycoon, I kept finding myself wanting to interact with the little customers, they are so cute. I was wondering, have the creators of VV given any thought to one day bringing our villagers home and phasing them back into civilization? I think that would be cool.

i think when two want to have a young one the guy villager should bring a female some flowers or specal sea shell or peeble then she would accept him as her partner in having a child.

I agree with all the ideas but have some of my own like parents communicating and reconising their child also in VV3 I think your little villagers should be able to comunicate. I think there should also be wild animals around e.g. chimpanzee, leopard, gorilaz etc and i love the idea of animals to take of e.g. hens, wild boars. Children should start doing their own task by themselves e.g. collect mushrooms and colletables.
