I have to enter my registration code every time I enter the game. Is that 'works as designed'?

That is usually caused by an incompatible or corrupted savegame file. It's possible that your savegame file became corrupted during that crash that you had on your LifeDrive. I understand that you wanted to continue with the game that you had in progress, but if you were to load the savegame file from before the crash you'd probably be OK. Please let me know how it turns out!

Its been doing this since day 1, actually. And it is happening on 2 devices. It could be related to the save game, though. I copied the savegame file from the Clie once I got my LifeDrive. Now the game is running on both machines. In fact, I'm carrying the Clie around just to 'finish' the game.

Just looking at the stats:
13104 max population
12347 villagers born.
825510361 food harvested

Either that's a totally unbeatable record, or a little messed up file.

OTOH, 8 puzzles solved so I will stick with this file for a bit more.

Yep - that's a problem with the savegame file! You'll probably be able to finish the game using it, as long as you don't mind entering your reg code a lot.

You didn't, by any chance, download the "new game fix" and install it, did you? If you install a different version of Village Sim without completely deleting the old version, you can experience that sort of thing.

I don't know what the 'new game fix' is, so I guess the answer is 'no'.

That fix was developed to correct a problem where the game would crash any time a new game was started (a pretty rare problem, so most people don't need it). Since you are still running the original download, it looks like your savegame file became corrupted somewhere along the line.

What can I say? My skills must be truly godlike. Especially since my max population is 700 more than the number of villagers born.

I guess I could have had about 400 'barrel' events.

I have exactly the same problem as "Stile",
I have to keep entering the reg code everytime I reenter the game. I have a treo 650 and it's really annoying to have to keep doing this.
Has anyone found a way to fix this?

The registration code that you enter is only saved when the game is saved. So if you never exit the game (such as resetting instead of exiting to the Palm launcher), the registration code won't be stored.

As I mentioned in my earlier post above, that problem is also frequently caused by an incompatible or corrupted savegame file. There are several sets of circumstances that can cause the problem, including a savegame file corrupted by a crash, or installing an updated version of Village Sim without completely deleting the previous version first. The simple fix is to completely uninstall the game from both internal memory and the expansion card (if installed) and reinstall the game. Once you start a new game on the clean installation of the game, register it, and save it (by exiting to the launcher or another application), you shouldn't have further problems.

I also have the problem of having to reenter reg. code. I think it is because I have the game on the sd card. It didn't do it when it was in main memory, but with the size of the game, it wasn't practical to keep it there.
