Sudden Deaths...

Ok, I keep losing villagers suddenly. I've lost 3 so far of my original generation. They die between the ages of 50-55. I understand that's somewhat old for an early game stage, but there is no warning sign whatsoever. Their health is completely green, and then BAM they're dead. I don't leave my game alone for too long (at all) b/c I've become OCD about it, and as I've experienced with "sickness," it takes a little while to drain a Villager from full green to dead red. Is there something I'm missing? They have been master researchers and doctors who have died. I'm at Level 2 on Harvesting, Science, and Spirituality, and level 1 on everything else. And I've had plenty of food (between 300-600) at the times of these deaths. Boo hoo!

I had a sudden death - disappearance in fact. I picked up an older (but not elderly) master healer as the group was on a burying the dead march, and where I dropped her, who knows, but she was gone. Births + 5 originals + barrel babies - tombstones was greater than population (should be equal).
Incidentally I get age 70 with level 2 med.

Vanishing villagers is a known bug in Village Sim - one that won't be there in the v1.1 update. The best way to prevent that situation is to avoid touching or dragging your villagers around the time that the dead are being buried.

One of my villagers also suddenly died on me. I am on level 2 Medicine. This villager, Kifa, was 66 years old and nursing. There was another male villager, Masau, who was 68 and his health was steadily weakening. Kifa, on the other hand, was elderly and showed 80% on her health bar but still showed very green. After she started nursing, her health bar went to 100% green, and I thot to myself "Hmmm ... so nursing does improve the elderly's health." I took my eye off her for a minute, and then I noticed that she's missing and a pile of skeleton on the ground -- Kifa's remains.
Any idea what happened? Kifa is dead, so is the baby that she was nursing; the population count went down by two. This was a surprise because I had thought that Masou will die first since his health bar is in the red now, while hers was 100% green. I wanted her baby because she's a master farmer and hopefully her genes will pass on to the baby.
P.S. These villagers die very quickly. While I was writing, Masou's healthbar was showing 20% red. I paused in the midst of writing to look at the villagers, and found his skeleton on the ground!

Although your villagers were certainly old enough to die from old age, a villager's health is supposed to go all the way down before they die. I think we need to check out what's happening in that regard - there might be something going wrong.

Yes, thank you SBB... that's *exactly* what was happening to me too! (i'm the original poster of this string-- i suppose i should register at some point).
Anyway, I've had it happen several times, and I don't know what is causing it. I also have lost probably around 10 villagers total, but only have 5 gravestones and in the "stats" the numbers don't add up to indicate that i''ve lost 10 villagers.

If villagers die and decompose, they will not be counted as burials in the village stats. Also, if any of your villagers have vanished, either due to an Island Event or a bug, they won't count as burials, either. We will be looking more closely at unexplained and sudden villager deaths.

You'll need to have the right level of Village Tech, and then take one of your adult villagers exploring (drag 'em around the village) to see what they can do about the situation.
If you don't have the necessary Village Tech, the corpses will decompose and disappear on their own.

What level of Village tech do I need to be able to bury the dead?

Think of which one you would need to have a funeral.
