Seahorse Restocker

very small utility that allows you to repurchase the seahorse in case your seahorse died. it does not actually purchase the seahorse for you. and of course you still have to pay full price for it. it just restocks the store with 1 seahorse for you to purchase, for people who miss their late seahorse and want another one. and no, even i do not have a clue what the seahorse does. \:\)

Instructions for Use

1. Exit Fish Tycoon Completely.
2. Run Seahorse Restocker. It will find your fish tycoon folder if Fish Tycoon was installed in the usual place (\Program Files\Fish Tycoon). If it was not installed there the program will allow you to find the folder.
3. Select the game you wish to restock with a seahorse from the drop down combo box (Test Seahorse is the name of game 2 in the example above.)
4. Press the Restock Seahorse in Store button.
5. You may restock another save game or press Exit.

Notes:
  • Program has not been tested (heck the program did not even exist 10 minutes ago \:\) )
  • Program was written for the BFG version of FT because that is where I purchased my game (forgive me for that - I would have bought it directly from LDW but I did not know this site existed and I have a membership at BFG in their game club).
  • If other versions of FT use the same save game format it should work on them but I do not have access to other vendor's version to test it and know for certain. If you purchased it from LDW (good for you!) or someplace else (and even if you got it from BFG), make a backup of your save games in case it does not work (I think there is a thread in the FT guide on how to make backups of your FT save games and how to restore them if something bad happens)
Best Wishes to everyone, and if it is not too early to say it, have a Happy Thanksgiving \:\)
-Borg

Thank you, I don't need the seahorse yet but I have down loaded it just in case.

OK using this program allows you to even have 2 (yes, TWO) seahorses in the game.. All at once. I have 2 in one tank right now.

EDIT: You can have even more than 2. LOL.

I did not know that so I'll do it. So that means you could have a tank full of seahoses if you wanted.

I tried to use the restocker to get another seahorse and all it said was I already had one. I got my game from Real Arcade.

Thank you for the bug report. I guess Real Arcade arranges the save game file differently than BFG.

I tried the Seahorse Restocker and it said that I already have one and wouldn't let me buy another one. I got my game from Real Arcade before I found LDW.

If I downloaded the trial version of FT from Real Arcade I could make a version of Seahorse Restocker for Real Arcade.

I am just worried that the Real Arcade version will somehow mess up my BFG version of FT, since they both use some form of protection.

Very cool as usual Borg. I've never had my seahorse die on me, but now if it does I won't have to miss it!

Is there any way you can save the RA version on another drive separate from the other game? I'm watching this topic ... I have the RA version as well. I love me little seahorsie, and he is aging gracefully and healthily, but it is nice to know there could be a replacement. Has anyone else noticed any color changes with age progression? Mine started out yellow, and is now orange ... hmmmmmm ....

If someone had the proper knowhow they could mod it, it's just not as easy as the other games, but it is doable.

I hadn't realised before this thread came back from the dead that a seahorse could die. Certainly I've never seen seen any of mine with an infection, and that's the only way the fishes in Isola die - they don't die of old age. The sea horse also seems to be on a different timescale to the others; while I have several fish aged 9999, the seahorse is only in the low hundreds (I don't have FT on this machine so I can't check their exact ages).

The seahorse is not supposed to be able to die (and I've never had one die), but people have reported seahorse deaths. In addition, some people have trashed their seahorse (accidentally or deliberately).

The seahorse will not age at all, unless it's in the tank when growth hormone is used. Perhaps that scenario is related to seahorse deaths?

Odd. When I get home I'll check the ages of the seahorses in my three extant games. I haven't used the growth hormone at all often (apart from early on when I didn't have the seahorse anyway). One of the magic fish, though, has the attribute that "With this fish in your tank, young fish tend to grow more rapidly." Could that also affect the seahorse? I do have that particular MF in all three games.

Yes, that particular fish does have the same effect, now that you mention it. In fact, if I remember correctly, it can possibly cause fish to age even when the game is paused. \:o

That'll be the reason, then. My seahorses are 69, 208, and 21. I misremembered; I don't have that MF in the third tank, which no doubt explains why he's so much younger. The 69 year old is actually in the oldest game, and I accidentally sold my breeding pair of that MF, and have only recently bred them back again. The seahorse aged 208 has had the magic fish with it pretty well from when I bought it; it was the first MF I bred in that game, even before the relatively common MF of Fertility.
