There is another way to increase your healer's skill without making everyone else sick. Begin highlighting here for spoiler: If you are playing VV2, which I'm assuming you are, Drag your healers to one of the herbs around the village. They will examine it and if they are sucessful they will gain skill. End highlighting. Hope that helps!

I agree .... why would you WANT to make a villager sick? I start out ALL my healers with a trip around the village examining all the herbs/flowers/strange plants, and keep at it until they know them all. It is a part of their healing knowledge. At this point they are trainees, and I let them go to find the rest of their training as people NATURALLY get sick. There is enough work, especially when you have a full village of 115 to keep them busy on their own without MAKING anyone sick.

Begin highlighting here for spoiler: The only way to make people sick in VV2 is to make a stew End highlighting. From that link I gave above.

Hope that helps!

One thing that makes me chuckle inside is seeing how often the Doctors of the village spend time at the lake and the beach.

The Doctors Will rush to cure sick villagers, it's true. But why in the world do you wish to make them sick? The gong gives "Takes Health," but healing the sick doesn't give that much more "education." Keep taking them to the plants. Since there is a plant just above the pool, where the doctors seem to spend a lot of time, just drop them on it in bunches. Yes, you can have more than one doctor studying the same plant. I just gather them up out of the pool, give them some study time at the vine, and let them walk down the hill, and I snatch them up again for another go at the plant! It seemsz to work rather well.

Making villagers sick just to heal them again seems rather unethical to me. Yes, I know they're really just a collection of pixels ... \:\)

As Damballah indicates, it's a lot lesss trouble just to drop doctors on a magic plant than to go through all the palaver of making a stew.

Kittenangel, they absolutely DO gain more from a plant drop! I know you know that after about 3 plant drops, you can have a Trainee Doctor. If you start them out at 14, if they have no preferences, they will stay at it until they are Adepts. Much faster than making a poisonous stew, and dragging your doctors to the villagers. \:\)

Yes, but if you have a villager who dislikes work or learning and they have no skills, it might be a good idea to get them some skills before they reach fourteen years of age so that they can keep working from there. I think that's how I got one of my healers. \:\)

I have found quite often that Trainee doctors (not Untrained) are more apt to become bored or unsure what to do and hang around the village center, even those with inherited healing skill. Sometimes I have to drag them back to plants a few times before they figure out what they are supposed to do.

That true! If they don't have too much other skills.

Yeah they gain with sick people but studying plants will more help them but trainee to adept is faster than asdept to master!

True enough, but I just keep giving them "classtime" at the black vine every day, and many of my healers are Master Doctors by 34, so it's not really that long. One thing about having several Adepts and several trainee Doctors is that if someone becomes ill, they all rush to the place and mill about, and the poor SICK individual stands there "Waiting for someone." You still have to drag somebody to the sick villager to heal them.

This will sound awful to some of you, but I used to make sick and kill off my grey haired (from birth) and "coconut-headed" villagers because they were ugly.

I have since begun using the greys as healers, figuring maybe the hair can be seen as a sign of premature wisdom, and thus less ugly. I still kill off the coconut heads if they are born, unless they happen to be runners.

When I had lazy villagers I would help them meet their maker in an untimely fashion as well, justifying it with the knowledge that they are only pixels. It never felt right though.

no one likes the coconut heads, heatherW! but i think it is better about the "sign of premature wisdom" and not killing the greys.

i have made villagers sick with stews to get a master so i could get an elder but it is true they get more skills from plants \:D
