This is a guide about results when breeding plants depending on their tiers. This guide assumes you are familiar with terms such as: Cross-Pollinate, Tier, and Breed. For definitions of the four tiers and examples of seeds, see sfrose's wonderful seed catalog

Once you've read that, you should understand this guide.
This is sorta a guideline of what tiers you should cross-pollinate to get others.
You start out with only Tier 1s. A Tier 1 cross-pollinated with another tier 1 will give you a tier 1 or a tier 2. You won't get very far with just tier 1s, so try and get some tier 2s. Before you have level 2 soil, experiment with breeding tier 2s together. A tier 2 and another tier 2 will give you s tier 2 or a tier 1. Don't breed a tier 1 and a tier 2 until you have level 2 soil. A tier 1 + a tier 2 will ALWAYS equal a tier 3. Once you have tier 3s, there are lots of more possibilities, but beware. Sometimes, you may cross-pollinate two tiers and wind up with something that's a lower tier than both of them, for example: A tier 4 plus a Tier 3 can equal a tier 1 in some occasions. Here is a basic outline:
Tier 1 + Tier 1 = Tier 1 or 2
Tier 1 + Tier 2 = Tier 3 ONLY
Tier 1 + Tier 3 = Tier 1, 2, or 3
Tier 1 + Tier 4 = Tier 1, 2, 3, or 4
Tier 2 + Tier 2 = Tier 1 or 2
Tier 2 + Tier 3 = Tier 1, 2 or 3
Tier 2 + Tier 4 = Tier 1, 2, 3, or 4
Tier 3 + Tier 3 = Tier 1, 2, or 3
Tier 3 + Tier 4 = Tier 1, 2, 3, or 4
Tier 4 + Tier 4 = Tier 4 ONLY

Enjoy,
- Jazzo (and sfrose, for making the seed catalog.

I wish someone would do a Tier-Soil-Game Difficulty Guide. \:\)

For example:

Code:
FLOWER FOLIAGE SOIL GAME RESULT
I I II EASY HEALTHY AT MATURITY
IV IV I HARD DIES BEFORE MATURITY
etc...

Cheers,
-Borg

One thing I realised, while helping several people with games, is in easy mode, sometimes it's not so smooth, for example a certain tier 3 tier 2 survives to maturity in l2 soil, and another tier 3 tier 2 does not. I have done many tests, of course only in easy mode, and have somewhat been able to determine it for some plants. but not all.

Hey, Jazzo, has sfrose got any more guides or info like the one you just directed me to? I'm sure I saw a mention of sfrose's pocket guide somewhere but can't find the reference now.

They are in the Guides Section (probably on the second page, if you are using the forum display defaults).

I can't see the sfrose's pocket guide anymore. I know it was in the PT Guide but it seems that it disappeared and I didn't find it with the "search"

Thank you LadyCFII, Laurence and Jazzo. I've been hunting for that Guide forever!! Now all I have to do is concentrate and try to discover how this document works \:\)

Meanwhile I am doing pretty well under my own steam and only use spoilers when I reach the stage of pulling out my hair.

Thanks again guys and gals.

Whenever I'm helping people, it's a great guideline. I think the most important thing in that guide is that Tier 1 + Tier 2 will ALWAYS be a Tier 3. ANd that's the only way to make a tier 3 out of a tier 1s and 2s

Edit: And thank you, I believe I forgot my manners \:\)

hi, sorry I've been away for a while...

I mentioned in a few other threads that when I was working on my cross-breeding charts, I used a different ordering scheme than Borg did on his (so my discovering more facts about breeding and mutations came independant of his results.)

My charts sorted the flowers and foliage by tier order. That helped me discover many facts posted in this thread. (namely that crossing a Tier 1 & Tier 2 flower or foliage would result in a Tier 3!) I'll try to remember to upload a copy of my charts later. It may be useful for others.

I haven't done much research on the different game levels, and the notes I have as to what will survive are incomplete since my first priority in any game is to upgrade my soil!

However, I did determine that the soil requirement of a plant is which ever is the higher tier of the flower or foliage.

i.e. a Tier 1/Tier 3 would need soil necessary for a Tier 3 plant, while a Tier 2/Tier 1 would need soil for a Tier 2 plant.

I noticed that too, however, I did notice a tier 3/tier 2 survived better in l2 soil than a tier 3/tier 1. If it's of interest, the tier 3/tier 2 was a FL (magic plant) and the tier 3/tier 1, was an astera (not sure what kind, it didn't survive to maturity, but it was definitely tier 3) Any comments sfrose?
