I just thought of something. For those that want their villagers to get to be very advanced and more modern, maybe when you install you can choose to eventually get more advances, or not, using a check-box. That might be a bit too complicated, but it also might help. Then if you like your villages staying simple, you can say that and keep it that way. Personally, I wouldn't check the box. LOL, that's just me, though.
