and I just wonder, does things really build off faster with more workers? I feel that it doesn't?

Yes, I believe it does!

Like the more people building a hut, the faster it progresses!

Yes, any work goes faster with more people. Also, experienced workers accomplish more than less experienced workers.

Yes, in most cases. Exceptions might be if your have (say) ten trainee scientists; they'll probably earn less tech points than (say) five master scientists. Also since only master farmers can catch crabs, one master might gather more food points than a couple of trainees, especially if you consider that trainees are more likely to fail in their task. But in general, the more the merrier!

Oh definitely more workers make the task get done faster. But, please remember, if you are in the beginning of your game DON'T take all your villagers and put them on the same task. You will need someone to gain tech points, someone to keep the food level up and someone to build.

I think the exception may be with Trainee doctors...they tend to be pretty focused until they get to Adept. And, while Adepts and Masters all rush to a sick person, Trainees will also go, but rarely make it to be the one who heals. So, as the gentleman said, make sure you have at least one Adept or Master.
