Lady, I had one instance when the gong took away the life of my favorite villager, an elder runner. Since then I only use newbies and idiots to ring the gong but I have not encountered another so far. Does it really take life or my eyes deceived me?
In this instance the gong granted life. That is one of the things that can happen when you bang the gong. Sometimes the gong grants, and sometimes the gong takes. If you leave the villager who banged the gong selected, you can see a message that will tell you exactly what the gong granted.
