I was trying to fill in my modest starting grid with crossbreeding, and TWICE I crossbread a roseacia fern with a mystic glad .... and the seeds were ... FERN? and when it grew up it was a ... ROSEACIA FERN? um .... I'm confused. I thought I messed up, so I tried it again and got the same thing. What's up?

No! I think that's normal. Looking at the borg's grid (it could be a spoiler so highlight here: rosaceae x mystic = rosaceae and fern x gladiatus = fern! (end of the spoiler)

That is, indeed, perfectly normal. Algorithm gave an excellent explanation of why it works that way.

Fern is the name of the plant you got by cross polination and the word ROSACEAE is the name of the flower on it. You can have a basic ferns with 5 different kinds of flower - hence the name could be bluestar fern, citrus fern, jalapa fern etc. There are 4 different tier levels with each plant - the higher tiers need better soil and water to grow well. Tier 3, for example in ferns can have 8 different flowers on them.

Cross breeding plants sometimes make one of the same plants in the combo, depending which tier level the plants are on. You will find other combos that will also make a fern. These are the things you will find out as you go along.

Thanks everyone ... lol ... it is just that previously when combining two DIFFERENT species I have always come up with a new species ... this was the first time different ones were crossbred and I came up with one of the parents, AND the color of that same parent. LOL well, I'm a newbie. I did look at the chart explanation however, and believe it or not, LOL, I started my own exactly like that explained without knowing why I decided to do it that way LOL.
