Does the Golden Child ever grow up? All my other kids have aged 5 years since the Golden Child arrived yet little Goldie is still 5 years old. The only thing that seems to have changed over the last 5 years is that she shows off more with her magic. Do I just hang in there?

What good is she then????? I've tried to get the little thing to do something constructive and all she wants to do is dance, chace butterflies, and perform a pretty show! Guess what you'll tell me is that's another puzzle

The GC will solve a puzzle for you, but she will do in on her own little time table. Just watch and waite.

Wait until you need master for some puzzles, then realize that the little bugger is useless despite all his/her skills. Then it will REALLY drive you nuts!!

I know this is a stupid question but how do you know when you have the GC? Is it obvious?

There seems to be the occasional problem where the GC disappears before being sighted, but in general, you will get a message along the lines that there has been a special birth. The GC also looks and acts differently to the other villagers

If you still can't find the little one, you can also check your details screen and scroll through. The Golden Child is easy to spot there.

I currently have 12 nursing mothers.. and in hopes for a golden child just because it would be cute to have running around eating me out of house and home (or does it not eat? that would be a relief). So just hopefully.. hopefully he will come. XD

If not then my old man will just have to work a little bit harder... Its amazing how 42 villagers and they only want to procreate with ONE man. XD.

I think I am lost about the GC? How many births does it take? And another thing will you need to have all three tech levels in order to get the GC?

The GC will be born when the conditions in your village are right, which includes certain Village Tech levels.

I have 65 villagers, so I suppose I have to sit and wait until someone dies? I'm even considering not buying the last health level, because people would live longer and it would take me longer to get the GC...

Okay, game time is 743 hours. Golden child was born in 359 hours. 384 hours later, I'm still waiting to actually see this little bugger. Is this some sort of record?

You say you haven't actually seen the Golden Child in all that time? Have you tried scrolling through your villagers' details screens to see if you can find him/her that way? You'll notice the difference right away.

I have not yet SEEN the golden child. The kids supposed to be a master at everything right? Haven't had anyone like that show up in my character list yet!! Puzzles say the golden child showed up at 359 hours but I haven't seen it yet!?!

Sounds like you found the Vanishing child bug... You should be able to see the golden child the second you see the announcement. Unfortunately, without the GC, you won't be able to do puzzle #11. So sorry!

Eeeek! I don't think it should take that long for you to see it.

Michelle is right. It looks like your Golden Child needs to have their face put on a milk carton - "have you seen this child?" That usually happens when a villager is dragged around during or shortly after the time of burials in the village. It's possible that you accidentally moved the child without realizing it. At any rate, as Michelle said, you won't be able to solve the 11th puzzle without the GC. You can still solve puzzle 12, though, since the GC is not required for that puzzle.

I think 743 hours has got to be a record... not just for not seeing the Little Bugger, but also for total gameplay. Holy smokes! That's over 30 days of running game clock, assuming no time warping (and I know none of us EVER do that).

Yes, Gemelle, the Little Bugger will always be 5 years old. He is ageless, Peter Pan of Isola, and he gets to wear a cool costume. Maybe the other villagers in Morwen's game got jealous and fed him to the Idol? Or they gave him to the beached whale? Or he decided to live anonymously with the liitle food-stealing monkey? There are lots of possibilities....

Aw nuts....okay, well I guess I'll go ask for a hint on puzzle 12 then. I'm stumped as to what it can even be.

Sigh... Me too.

I'm going to have to send a PM for help. I can't figure out puzzle 12 for the life of me. I have a feeling the little golden gipper isn't going to just do something miraculous while I wait, either. Whenever I check on her, she's just being sweet and chasing butterflies.

Have you noticed the Golden Child can't swim? You throw him in the water and he walks on top of it.

You'll need to wait until some villagers die, so that there is room in your village for more babies.

I found that out! Mine was a girl and she kept saying "hey" all the time when I moved her so I dunked her and she walked on the water, both the ocean and the lagoon. Couldn't even get her wet!

Hey, the GC _IS_ useful in one way... when you need to scroll through the villagers fast, it's useful to find GC first and start there -- it's easy to tell when s/he comes round again.

PROBLEM HERE, THOUGH: I've played this game through several times now, but this is the first time the GC hasn't been born (yet)... I have all the levels, solved everything possible w/o the GC... have tried all sorts of mating combinations ... but still no child. Clearly there is something that kicks off the birth that I'm missing. Never was a problem, before... I'm running about 45 -50 villagers at the moment (once a game is finished, I've enjoyed maintaining it until I got bored, and 50 villagers is a comfortable number). Will somebody kindly send me the secret? I miss the kid and his fireworks.

Thanks,
Sally

There is nothing that you're missing. Sometimes the GC seems to take his or her own sweet time about showing up. It's unpredictable, just like life's unpredictable. Patience, patience.........

Thanks, Barbara... I kind of suspected that... but needed to know for sure!

I think I'll do the hard level challenge as soon as the GC appears and tidies up my stats... I really enjoy the game.

Best,
Sally

My GC disappeared. After he was born, I moved him to see what he would do in different areas of the village and poof! he was gone. I finished every puzzle except #11. I guess I have to start over... that stinks (after 278 hours game time.)

It's unfortunate that you encountered that bug. Most people don't. You don't necessarily have to start over if you have a savegame file on your PC from before the GC disappeared. You could restore that savegame file and continue from that point. Since you have had your GC disappear once, I would refrain from touching him once he's born again. You don't need to, and it's obviously somewhat dangerous!

That bug will be fixed in the v1.1 update of Village Sim.
