I don't think that they ever die of old age. Fish don't in Fish Tycoon.

Plants actually do die of old age... Had it happen before.

The Tree of Life does help against infestations and how surviving with little water, but the plants do eventually die.

How much a plant can age depends on how often Intsa-Grow was used on it (or the Insta-Grow Bomb on the entire greenhouse), as well as the speed of the game.

Isn't insta-grow just the same as waiting except it speeds it up. Are there side FX of the instagrow?

No, there are other effects of Insta-Grow besides speeding up the aging process. It's a spoiler that hasn't been mentioned on the board yet, so it is better for people to discover it on their own.
