That usually happens when a male villager has been set to be a parent. I learnt the hard way not to do that in VV1 (not for any length of time, anyway). I only choose females to learn parenting skills now in VV2.

It happened to me once. I had two women designated as parents and when I turned the game on one morning, I had 20 women caring for children. I had been doing well keeping my tribe all blonde, not letting the occasional dark haired villager have babies, until that point. All the children had dark hair and their father was "?". I figured that the gong had granted life during the night, although I had not rung it. What a mess when they all turned 14 at the same time!

There is a gong event that gives life, and you don't have to have your villagers set to parenting. My difficulty is, when I allow just females to choose, they seem to all choose that auburn-haired gentleman with the small head, and one peak on his hair. This makes for great difficulty later on, because of the relationship between the children!

Unless you manually choose their partners, women set to parenting will always go after the oldest male up to the age of 50; once he turns 50, they go after the next oldest.

BTW, Damballah = Haitian?

No, but that is the Wyrm of the World who is wrapped around the equator. Also the Serpent of Wisdom, as I understand it. I've researched it, and this was about all I got. Mostly because the rest of what I read gave me nonsense about a woman that stands on a serpent's head. I've had that username a very long time..almost 10 years.
