I've found the kite and taken the key to the man in the general store who is supposed to give me a box the next day but when I went back nothing happened.
Any ideas?

It is a cool event but takes several days. I just finished it. Go see all the store people & the City Hall. Can't remember the exact order it all happened because each part takes a couple days. Just pay attention when each part happens so you know what to do next. Keep checking back with the store person!

I did the key thing, fixed the stone circle and dug up what was there, I went around to all the shopkeepers but I can't remember if any of them told me what to do. Is the next part of the quest in the mine? Because I'm in the process of fixing that.

After you find the note in the stone circle, give it to the guy at the museum. Then, he will read it aloud. After that, the quest seems to end. LDW will add more in soon, though, so don't worry!
