No, you're no hallucinating! I really am posting a new story in Fan Fiction! This one is called The Great Princess (obviously). It's only a one-shot, but still better than nothing, right?
Anywhoodles, it's a VV3 story, and I don't even play that game! Oh well. Enjoy!
The Great Princess“Gather ‘round, children!”
Every child on the North side of the island of Isola looked up from what he or she was doing and proceeding to flock to the Amphitheater, where Chieftess Isha stood.
Nine-year-old Vinaya was one of the first to arrive and thus has a good view for Chieftess Isha’s fascinating gestures. Looking around excitedly, Vinaya saw that her friend Jamuna was near the back of the group, looking around for a seat. Vinaya waved to her and slid over enough to make room for another person beside her, patting the bench with her hand. Jamuna grinned and hurried down to sit beside Vinaya.
When all the children were settled, Chieftess Isha began her tale. “The story I’m about to tell you stems from centuries past, and will teach you the origin of our great statue.”

“Long, long ago, when Isola was new, the entire island was one enormous city, with a mountain rising up in the center of it all. As you have learned, mountains are a symbol of favor and protection, so the citizens always felt safe.
“In the palace lived a young princess by the name of Ajna, born to King Jai and Queen Anahata. The king and queen were known as the Two Eyes of Isola because they watched over and cared for all on the island. In turn, Ajna was known as the Third Eye, not only because she was the princess, but also because it had been seen from an early age that she was incredibly intuitive, picking up on things most others missed.
“Now, as you all know, Ajna means ‘command’ in the ancient tongue. This name was chosen for her because it was found that from a very early age she had immense ability in every recognized skill. So much so that she would be considered a master by today's standards. Because of this skill, it was known that she would certainly rule the city one day. At an early age by today's standards, she began her study of each of the trades of the city, as a ruler must understand the common comings and goings of that which he, or she, in this case, leads.
“As she grew older, Ajna became very beautiful, and gained many suitors. Still, she was not looking for love, feeling that she was destined for greater things. She continued her training into her teen years, and when she turned eighteen, she was established as ruler of Isola.
“She was a powerful and kind ruler from the start, and everyone living on the island prospered. However, deep in the island’s center, trouble was brewing.
________
“I mentioned earlier that mountains are a symbol of favor. Sadly, at times this is bad favor, and terrible things can happen. This was the case with this mountain. Sometime after Ajna’s twenty-fifth year, there were tremors that shook the island. Ajna consulted with the weather interpreters of the city and they soon discovered that great calamity was approaching. The mountain was truly a volcano, and it would soon erupt, drenching the island in molten stone.
“They attempted to warn the people, but before they could send the message over the warning system, an ever greater tremor rattled the island and the top of the volcano exploded into a fountain of ash and smoke. The volcano was moving towards eruption much rapidly than first thought. There was no way they could get out in time.
“Now, Ajna had always been a very special girl, and some said that she had been touched by fairies as a babe. Knowing full well what would happen to her, she made her way to the mouth of the smoking mountain. She was prepared to defend her island with her life. It is said that there was a burst of brilliant light and that the earth shook even harder. On four sides of the mountain, large, steep cliffs burst up from the ground, destroying many homes in their wake. The smoke and ash died away, and the island was found to be changed incredibly. The city had been split into four separate and smaller tribes.
“Unable to communicate with the other sides, each tribe settled itself as a village, which is how it is down to this day. The city on this side of the island grew rapidly, and soon the statue you see here was erected in Ajna’s honor.”

Isha stopped speaking and looked around at the enthralled children, indicating that the story had finished. Vinaya’s hand shot up.
“Yes, Vinaya?”
“But, Chieftess, what happened to Ajna?”
“No one knows for sure, love,” replied Isha. “Some say that she herself turned into a fairy, giving her human existence to save the island. Others feel that she remains at the top of the mountain, caring for all the tribes.”
Vinaya cocked her head in thought. “I think she lives in one of the tribes!”
The group giggled, even Chieftess Isha. The chieftess looked closely at the small girl. “Perhaps, child… perhaps she lives in each of us.”
