i raised my little villagers well, in more than one trade sometimes 4 even ;-) I've had 50 esteemded elders, but still keep educating my peeps, and there's a few walking about with 3 masters and the precarious age of 60 upwards and they're not turing into elders, no totems when i log back in....mind you my island's pretty full, but the statistics also say 10...
i'm pretty hi up in the statistics, but there's room for improvement ;-)
anyone else had this, is 50 the max amount of elders you can get and should i just stop bothering with education and jsut let them swim all day?

Mine stopped turning into Elders after I hit 51. I was so sad to realize there was a cap. I woke up this morning to three villagers hitting Masters in their third skill. Those ladies all worked so hard...

Yes, the limit is 50 totems/elders, although an Island Event could allow you to get 51.

Hey, that stinks! Why the limit?? I've got a 'system' down now and can see myself with 100s - heck, maybe thousands! I'm so bummed....guess I'll have to go back to trying (very frustratingly) to get the collections finished.

So it's an island event that does it? I've been wondering how people have gotten that 51st elder. The reason for the limit is because of the rediculus amount of totems you would accumulate after awhile.

Without the 'challenge' of more esteemed elders, once the puzzles are done all that's left is trying to finish the collections. Once I'm done with THAT, the challenge is 'over'...though I admit, I still have my VV1 village going strong and will probably keep VV2 going forever, also.

I've hit the 50 totem limit, but I keep my islanders working on mastering at least 3 skills. once they've reached that, I dress them in white like my titled "Esteemed Elders," set their skill preference to Healing, and just let them do whatever they want, so to my mind's eye the ranks of Elders are still growing, even if they are no longer receiving the totem and the actual title.

One question and then one idea...

Question: If Elders are maxed out at 50, then how can there be people on the leaderboard with 51-53 elders?

Idea: I think it would be more challenging if you had unlimited esteemed elders (masters at 3 disciplines) and then a limit of 50 "Tribal Elders" that have mastered 4 disciplines and would get a totem. Would enjoy seeing how many people could get one of those...

I too, have 50 totems and like bajacalla I keep educating them and dressing them like any other Esteemed Elder. It seems only right, the little buggers have worked so hard.

Barbara's post above explains how it is theoretically possible to get 51 villagers as elders after an event. Maybe they have had the same event more than once? Alternatively, and I realise this may be a radical idea, is it possible that those at the top of the leaderboard have been cheating?
