Hello everyone! I just started playing virtual villagers 1 and love it already. I am having some trouble getting my people to breed...any suggestions? Also, I have crops right now, but once they are gone can you re-plant? I'm actually on my second try..everyone died pretty quickly the last time.
Well, hope to hear from everyone soon!

Welcome, bluebyrd! If you're just starting a new game, you won't be able to go beyond a population of 7 villagers until you have finished the first hut (the one that's partially complete when you start out). If they are running away from each other, make sure you look for a message in the player communication area that will explain why.
The crops will regrow on a fixed schedule that is based on game speed.

Hello and welcome to the forum! The best is to look in the Forum List , scroll down near the bottom at The Guides of Virtual Villagers 1: A New Home. There are Strategy Guide and Puzzle Hints (a sticky thread with this: ); Charley's Virtual Villagers Guide and Village Monks Guide to VV on Easy (Spoilers) When you quit the game, take care to always be in ½ speed (they eat less) or even in Pause if necessary (but you'll not get some Event) and to have checked 2 doctors and 1 farmer or they'll not do their task by their own if they are not selected. Good luck!

Beware, though, that the guides that Laurence mentions will spoil the game for you, so don't look at them if you want to discover how to play the game for yourself.

Welcome, bluebyrd22!
In addition to the suggestions given, don't be in too much of a hurry to expand your village before the food supply is fully assured. Be sure that you always have at least one kid on hand to pick up any mushrooms you spot, but many more are really only extra mouths to feed. Don't start producing babies too soon or you'll run into a food crisis. Also remember that while the mother is nursing the baby (two hours on 2 X speed, proportionately longer on slower speeds) she'll be unable to contribute her skills to the village's survival.
