This is a known _bug_ that LDW haven't been able to reliably duplicate or eradicate. All you can do is rename your villagers again. The _bug_ also exists in VV1, although it seems to happen more frequently in VV2.

When i get a toddler who has the same name as a villager close in age i take 2 letters from each of the parents & make a new name ie: Keli & Aika had a son with same name as villager a few years older, so renamed him KeTa. Bindi & Tatoo had a daughter same name again so called her TaBi. I do have a few with same names but they are 2 or 3 generatins apart like Jade, Jade2, Jade3 ect.

Again my strangest name experience would have to be the father's name was Kenobi and the son's name was Obi (I posted a pic in photo thread). But generally if I get a duplicate name I either just add a letter or similar to jlb67, do a combo name of the parents. In RL - I have a cousin that named her child the same name as her older brother. And it's Micheal, so it's not even an uncommon name! So Micheal had an Uncle Micheal (by blood)

that is not uncommon in my family we have 6 or 7 men named Jack on my father's side. i gave up long long ago on worrying about inbreeding. they don't actually get the mutations and become deformed, so its not a big deal to me

In another post, I described making a last name out of the first three letters of the parents' names. Two funny results ended up as Ima FatBob and Kayak AteBob. I kid you not! I've also had Obi, Wan and Kenobi show up in another village. My personal fave is Ima FatBob. And how cool is it that there is actually a Wan to go with Obi and Kenobi. Were any of them wearing the white two piece, karate like outfit? Y'know, the jedi gear?

I had a set of twins called 'Obi' and 'Kenobi', but the one I thought was the most apt was a girl called "Moma" who went on to be a master parent LOL

Hi. I name my villagers the way Native Americans use to name their children - from nature. Well, all of them except Moon Doggie that is. I have an Angel (from angelfish), a Tiger Lily, a Pearl, a Mako, a Briarwood and an Orchid and so on. I'm sure that will get old as soon as my brain does dead on natural names. Thanks for the subject. It has been fun reading.

I had a Moma who never had children because I maxed out the population and then was unable to breed her before she turned 50! I've also had the name Tuna come up several times for a girl. I usually try to slightly modify the name if I have another villager with the same name, but if that doesn't work I pick an Americanized name that starts with the same letter.

I have noticed quite a few Maori names in VV1 and 2. Names such as "Rangi" are Maori names. Maori are the indigenous people of New Zealand.

When I first started my VV2 I had 2 people with the same name. One was a boy and one was a girl, I think the name better fitted the girl as it was Aisha. Curently I have 2 boys named Popo only 2 years apart, same mother, but different father. I never rename them.

^Now that is funny. In my latest game, I have two kids both by the name of Taro. It took me until the younger kid was 5 to figure that out. I also have a guy who the game originally named "Lapis". I changed his name to "Lapis Lazuli".

Not sure if this is the right topic to post this, but I have a kid named Soda who likes playing and gets "jumpy" for no reason... She drank too much soda I guess That is only if they have soda in Isola of course!!! I also had 2 pairs of twins in a previous game named Guapi & Goby. They were 9 years apart born to different parents.

There are a lot of names which in Italian have an actual meaning. For example in a tribe there is a man called "Pepe", which means Pepper, or a girl named "Lupa", which means "female wolf".

That's because Carla is Italian. Arthur and Carla and family also spend some time in Italy every year. "Isola" itself is Italian for "island".
