I really liked Lewanda's entry into the VV4 fashion contest, and I would like her to replace the female outfit in VF that has the black t-shirt with the red star and the striped pants with her entry, which was a pink dress. If Lewanda could do this that would be great or maybe someone else could do it if Lewanda is busy. Thanks in advance!
The outfit I like is the first picture, the outfit I want replaced with the outfit I like is the second picture.

With all respect to Lewanda's undoubted artistic skills, I'm rather afraid that your request would be beyond even her. I know the original artist uses sophisticated 3D modelling software to get the peeps' clothes, especially dresses, to 'flow' properly. Simply replacing the outfit with a dress wouldn't work. What would happen when the peep sits down, for instance?

It should be possible to change the colours of an existing outfit or dress, but not change it completely. I'd be very happy to be proved wrong, though!

Actually, I've done requests like this in the past before I purchased my 3d modeling software It's very doable, but it is a lot of work to make sure the animation functions. The dress is "morphable" in our 2d imaging software but a project like this could take some time.

If I have nothing else to do and Lewanda doesn't feel up to it, I wouldn't mind.

Phew.. got started on it but it really is a lot of work I counted 57 bodies (just to replace that one outfit) that I have to put that dress on!

Oh gosh, Lyssa! Now you have me all curious about 3d software. I can't believe it's never occurred to me before, but that would mean it could reposition an object for us, correct? I mean to say, it could render a different angle of an object we drew? For example, after I drew the sofa on the left side of the living room, could I have it produce the sofa on the right?

The dress is looking wonderful! Do you have to have the 3d program create the positions, then convert them back to a 2d image format? Or does the program do that?

I haven't used my 3d program in 3 years, I'm trying to broaden my experience and knowledge with Photoshop for now so all of those images were done with Photoshop.

The 3d program does not work miracles for you, but it allows you to create a "skeleton" of your furniture, clothing or whatever else which you can apply 2d textures on. With this skeleton, it is rendered in 3d which means you can view it on all angles.

For an outfit, you would have to recreate a human body skeleton that allows the arms and legs to move. Thus, to get the animation you want you would manipulate the skeleton to walk or do whatever animation you want.

It is really hard work, as you can imagine the 3d software is even more difficult to master than the 2d.

It sounds so interesting though! Reading this topic reminded me of a few friends I had several years ago that were into creating custom avatars for a 3d chatting program. They were always talking about "skins" and "meshes" which sounds very much like your description of using skeletons and textures. One of them gave me this in-depth "lecture" about meshes when trying to explain why a certain hairstyle I wanted was a bit difficult to create. lol

It seems that for our small home there wouldn't be too many skeletons needed for basic objects (in fact, the children's beds and the sofa's are the only ones I can think of that need drawing from different angles.) Still, I imagine modding the clothing, heads and animations would be the greatest use for the program. I mean, wow! if we could just draw the first one of the set and have the program do the other positions that would open up a whole new world of mods to put into the game. If my time were unlimited, I'd love to look into it. With all the modding people do to games nowadays, there's probably a good open source program out there somewhere. I just flat don't have time. heh

I got my start working with 3d things by creating meshes for a 3d chatting program as well, they're probably the one and the same

I specialized in hairstyles, furniture and accessories. It's very possible to mod everything in this game with a 2d program, but like you mentioned some tasks such as the heads and bodies would be much easier with a 3d program.

Lyssaria, you're doing a great job on this dress. Yes it's very doable and I have done it in the villager games, but like Lys said there are so many bodies to apply the fashion to that it's not feasible to change the outfits. It's much easier to just change their clothes.

Lyssaria, if you will, please feel free to finish doing the outfit. I just did a clean reinstall on my computer and will be days more reinstalling the applications that I need for my work. I also have oodlings of requests that have backed up on me while doing the reinstall so will be busy for some time between all that and my work.

I want to congratulate all who won in the VV4 fashion contest too, but I can't find the thread on the forum now. Maybe they took it down??? Anyway, congratulations all! I'll be very proud to have my little villagers wearing your creations. Big hugs!!!!

It really is a lot of work! I definitely don't have as many requests as you do so I'll probably be able to finish this project. I did think the dress would be lengthier but I rushed to see how I could get the movement going, I'll be sure to make it longer.

I'm not really fully back yet. I still have so much to do to finish reinstalling all the applications I need to do my work. Oh, and I had a list of request a mile long waiting for me when I came back online after getting my internet back up. Lol! I'm willing to share if you want some of them.

You did really good on the dress Sweetie other than it being a bit short in places. That shouldn't be hard to fix. I was sure glad to see that your green dress won in the contest, because I think it makes a perfect villager dress. I loved the other one, but the green one looks more like something they'd wear everyday. I can't wait to see my little villagers in it. I withdrew from the contest before they voted. I feel it was more for you kids. It made me feel awful when some of them said they didn't stand a chance...Just couldn't stand that.

Well, if Lys ends up doing the dress(Are you some supergirl? I could never do that so perfect looking, if I could even render it at all!), I could change the colors for you guys. The program I use makes it really easy to change the colors.
I wish Lys would do her chocolate dress! (no pressure. LOL I just really liked it and wanted it to win that contest really bad! LOL)

Phew! That really was a lot of work, I'm sweating I had the most trouble with the waving animation because I put the dress too high on one of the bodies so it looked like my model's dress was trying to jump while she waved, lol. She got praised about 10 times while I was testing, so don't feel bad for her!

I don't think the outfits at the bottom show up often just like the bottom heads. I may switch it's position in the image to see if I can get it for one of my peeps.

Gotta be careful with that, most bodies are positioned differently on the chart so you'd have to line each body up manually to ensure the body doesn't run away from the head.. I had major issues with that since I used a different body on the chart to base this one >_<

The purple is awesome Lyssaria. As for my kitchen; I may never get to finish it. I have a couple of websites I have to build for customers plus loads of pictures. I love these, great job Lyss and Lewanda. I showed you my screenshot of my twins in the pink dress, I have now changed them into the green one, goes so well with their hair color! I actually had all my female peeps running around with no bodies for a while because I forgot to add the body mod once I had backed up my originals! It looked really funny!

Lys's green one and the princess dress would both be beautiful in the game. Though it's about too much work to ask of her.

I can always consider them as little on the side projects like my current Rainbow V.2 and work on them now and then. It really is a lot of work so I don't want to say "yes, I'll do it!" and then have to push myself to work on it when I have other things to do

I know I was thinking about putting the brown&white one in the game at some point though!

I just read throught this whole thread and found that Lewanda, Lyssaria and some others have worked on these dresses. I saw that some have mentioned that it take alot of work to do and time for just for one dress.

I just merged all of Lewanda's Dresses so you can have them all. Sadly, it takes up to many MB so I can't post it. Unless someone can tell me how to do a off-site zip folder.
