Originally I was searching for "tycoon" type games when I first got my Palm and came across Fish Tycoon I believe. It was some 3rd party site. But I like to go to the original sites when I can (to look up more info, other games, forums, etc) so I wound up here! Sorry I can't be more specific but it was almost a year ago and I forgot exactly how lol. It might have been Google though I have a feeling I found some generic game site (like Big Fish or Handmark) and found the game/LDW's name through that.

I struck a conversation about computer games with my uncle at my grandmother's birthday party this weekend, and he mentioned how his girlfriend was obsessed with this game.

So I checked it out, and here I am, LOL.

I was just trying to figure out where I found my first LDW game! I know it was plant tycoon- and I'm pretty sure I found it when looking at a PALM game website. It looked interesting.... and well, here I am!

I was also searching for Tycoon games that I might want to try and ran across this one. It took me just a couple of days of playing the demo version before I bought the game. Love it!

Same as Warren, I think. I think it was a Palm mailing about Palm games. Only it was before Village Sim, so it was Plant & Fish Tycoon which caught my eye.

I can't remember exactly cuz it's more than 3 years ago, I believe! But my guess is I must have come across it thru either PalmGear, Handango or 1src (formerly known as ClieSource). So I guess my vote should belong to Others, right?!

I originally found Fish Tycoon on MSN Games. I liked the trial so I bought it. When I finished the game, I couldn't figure out how to restart, so I went searching for reviews, and ended up at Shockwave.com. Amid all the yakking - there's three pages of reviews! - I found a reference to the creators' home website, www.ldw.com. And, ah, here I am.

When Fish Tycoon was released for Macs, apple.com had the demo. I liked the game so much I wanted to know about whoever created it; even though there weren't any other Mac games, I've kept coming back to check when other stuff would be released.

Big Fish Games, for both Fish Tycoon and Virtual Villagers. And I'm sure when Plant Tycoon is ready for windows, I'll get an advance offer from BFG as well.

I play on pogo.com all the time and they offer free 1 hour try out period before you buy game. Saw this one and tried it and bought it immediately! Found out I do better with people than fish! Love the try and buy option-some games (not yours) I'm glad I didn't waste my money on!!

I was signed up with real arcade and playeed the demo of fish tycoon and loved it. That was about 6 months ago. I came to your website and read up about VV and decided to wait for that one to come out. I checked back to see if it had been released a couple times a week. I was so glad when it finally came out. But by that time I no longer had a real arcade membership, I had moved on to BigFish Games so I bought it through my BigFish membership.

I was tired of word games and did the free trial for VV on Yahoo!Games...bought it right away...I was so into it that when it said my free trial had expired I thought, "But I've only been playing for 10 minutes!" Such a fun game!

I found the game on http://www.shockwave.com/home.jsp where I can play most games first before I decide to buy. Virtual Villagers could not be played first, but I thought I would try it out and see what I thought. One of the best games I've ever played. Thanks!

I didn't know about this topic either! but I'll share too \:\) I always download demo's and VV is just one of many that I got, but this one I ended buying cause I couldn't stop thinking about it. When it was over I was searching the net desperately for answers to rookie questions like: is it really the end? what else does the GC do? and when is VV2 coming? and then finally stumbled upon this site, and I gotta say it was love at first site from beginning to now \:\)

I found this at Big Fish, too. I like the one hr trials for tryouts. VV was one that I had to have and am still glad that I own it.

I like to try Plant Tycoon when it comes to windows. The jury is still out for Fish Tycoon.

I was at some website (forgot its name), and I wanted to play Ant War, when an ad about Fish Tycoon pops up. Then, I get addicted, but think in my mind "There Must Be More!" So I look it up on Live, find this awesome website, and found games for mac and windows, and wala! Virtual Villagers.(But I downloaded a trial for VV, screwed up my computer).

Mark, my fiancee, was on Yahoo Answers and read a couple of Questions and Answers involving VV. Curious, he downloaded the game from Yahoo, I think it was Yahoo, and he became an addict.
I became truly aware of the game when he downloaded the game to my computer. I am not a gamer, and I did not ask him to put it on my computer, so, as a result, I ignored the game Mark started for me. When Mark found out I had not checked that first game even once, he made me check it. When I saw those little skeletons I felt really bad, started a new game, and was determined to do right.

I am hopelessly addicted to this day \:\)

My sister sent me this game link for a game called "cute knight" with a spiel about how great it is "girly games" are coming out. I tried the Cute Knight download, bought the game, and played it for a few months. Then I decided to check out the "other games" screen, and Virtual Villagers was one of the "other games" advertised. I tried the preview, and decided that I really couldn't properly even evaluate it on an hour so I bought the game just to try it out. I think that's probably kind of sad.

I found my first LDW games at Real Arcade. The first one I found was "Fish Tycoon" and than a bit later, "Virtual Villagers." I enjoyed FT but after the 1 hour demo of VV I couldn't WAIT to purchase it. The VERY DAY that it was available I purchased it and have never regretted it. I am so happy that you have already made a second VV and are planning a third. Keep up the great work!!

And a sequel to Fish Tycoon with more/different fish and plants/challenges would be great too!!

i bought a couple of games thru msn gamezone, then discovered vv1 there, got COMPLETELY hooked then couldn't WAIT for VV2 to turn up there, so surfed til i found the big fish site and then bought VV2. THEN i found the ultimate site... LDW!!! Thank you so much for your wonderful games and the best forums around! (There are so many funny and intelligent gamers out there!)

I found you guys on Big Fish games, i originally played the online version of Virtual Villagers on the website, and it bugged me that i couldnt do everything so i downloaded the free trial, and was hooked, i also had an online game of Fish Tycoon, and i downloaded that as well, im so happy i did. And i found this forum, when i needed help cause i was lost with puzzles 10, 13,14,15,16. Village_Monks guide was my saviour. I was like ohhh thats a child(puzzle 14) not a _bug_. LOL

I bought VV1 on Real Arcade - and then googled LDOW. When RA stopped doing Big Fish games, I switched to Big Fish. VV1 and VV2 are my favorite video games. Thank you!

I originally obtained the VV1, and I fell in love with it! I waited soooooo anxiously for VV2, and even though I can't wait for VV3...I am still working on VV2.
I love these games!

I saw vv1 and I was amazed that they had such a thing. So Idownloaded the free hour game and got hooked.Thos last game vv2 I bought from Bigfish games.

I found out about VV-1 on jayisgames.com (Don't know how to make a link). It's a great place to review & play new games.

I bought the first version at mac.gamestore.com, and VV-2 from the good folks here at LDW! LDW, in turn, uses Plimus to process their orders. With a 30 day guarantee, you can't go wrong!

I use to be a Sims player, but those games got way out of hand, both.. ..in size and price. I finally shelved them and haven't missed them a bit.

My daughter found VV1 on Yahoo, I fell in love with the game while testing it out for suitability. We're both hooked on both games!

I found VV1 on Yahoo games and trialed it, and loved it. Then I went looking for another free trial and found it on Big Fish. Then I had to buy it, cause 2 hours wasn't enough. And of course, as soon as BF let me know that VV2 was available I had to go buy that, too!

I found my vv 1&2 on big fish games. But I had trouble registering the game, so I bought mine from shockwave.com, at least they send you backup discs for their games.

I found the games on reflexive. My neighbor said how good they were and I have been a villager junkie ever since. I did fish tycoon first, but I enjoy my little villagers better.

I was at Best Buy with my mom looking for another game and she found VV1 while we were looking. They didn't have the game we were originally looking for, so we got VV1 instead! It's an awesome game!

I later went looking for this website and found it really easily. All I had to do was type virtualvillagers.com in the search bar! \:D

I downloaded quite a few games from BigFish Games and thought they were good. Then I found Fish Tycoon - then Plant Tycoon!! I looked at what other games LDW had and now have them all. I am addicted to each and every one of them now and hardly play another game at all \:\)

I am really looking forward to see what LDW comes up with next.

Oddly enough, when I bought my new HP, they had a "My Games" shortcut. I looked at many of the games, and both of these, VV1 and VV2, caought my eye, so I bought them both through that feature of my computer. Easiest buying I ever did. Bought them both as gifts for some friends in Wales as well.

I got so frustrated trying to get help from them, I cxl'd the subscription. Sitting, wondering...Oh No what am I gonna do now...I got a brillant idea! Go to Internet, search for Last Day of Work, with a game that awesome,,,,they gotta have a website. Been here ever since and found out boy was I playing in the dark ages with RA.

It been a long time! But near as I can remember, it was on a game called---oh, no, I can't remember! But it was a game where you start work life just after school having learned nothing, & you go thru the next 10 years building a career. It was great, but after awhile I had done it all, so deleted it. They had been nominated for an award, & on going to that site to vote for them, I found Fish Tycoon, which was also in the running. I downloaded that, & the rest is history. I've played & loved all the LDW games!

Somebody posted on the forums of a pet game website (no not Neopets!) asking for help with Plant Tycoon, I decided to try it, so I googled Plant Tycoon, found the big fish games version, played it, liked it, and ended up buying it, then I found the main LDW website and ended up buying FT and VV1 as well. and I will be buying VV2 as soon as I finish beating VV1 for the first time.

If I remember correctly, I was playing one of the online games on MSN Games and I decided to look at what downloadable games they had. I thought Fish Tycoon looked intriguing so I tried it out, got addicted and then bought it. \:\)

It was all downhill after that. ;\) \:\)

GameHouse. i get all my games from them basicly.. was looking for tycoon games since i'm a big fan of RCT found FT, said "hmmmm" loved it! so i tryed PT, again with the "hmmm" and loved it too! so now here i am onto vv.
i've beaten both FT and PT (admittedly by upping the clock to grow things faster) but i got that virtual seed tray for PT and just HAD to get one of every single seed there is. now if someone would do that for FT, i'd HAVE to get every single fish breed there is.
and isn't breeding people kinda what we're doing now? (along with other stuff of course!
but does LDW have a thing for breeding? first fish, then plants.. now people ? (sorry that was the order for me anyway lol)

Where did you find out about our games?
You may choose only one
a website (msn, aol, pogo etc)
a print magazine
a friend
a search engine (google, yahoo etc)
other (please indicate below)

I found VV1 at Walmart after I had back surgery and got tired of crossword books. VV2 I down loaded off Bigfish.com

I said "other", but I guess it could have been "website."

I found it via a review on Amazon. I can't remember if the review was for PT or for FT (I accidentally neglected to specify DS on the search of Tycoon games), but I wound up with FT DS.

being a pogo member since 2000, I am always delighted to see something new pop up, and lo and behold, one day, there was VV1. It took about 7 seconds flat to be hooked, and within a day I had half of the people on another forum I belong to addicted as well. Oh the stories we shared in the shoutbox about our little baby makers HAHA.
Then VV2 came out.........then my daughter said..."mom, whatchya playin? can I try?" she was 5....

and so here we are, lol

A coworker was talking about it...I downloaded the free trial from shockwave (vv1&2)then I started looking for strategy guides and found LDW found out about vv3 and started hyperventilating...I was so excited. The day it came out I was at work and called my husband to let him know it was finally out...By the time I got home he had already pd for and downloaded the game :):):)

As I stated in another forum, my first game was Fish Tycoon. I was searching the web on Yahoo, for "online simulation games". I like sim-type games. I got hooked on FT. Later, I found, also on Yahoo Games, Virtual Villagers, and discovered that this island is where those fish came from. I thought "cool, I'll check it out". As soon as my 60 minutes were up on that trial, I immediately purchased VV. Time passed, and on Yahoo Games, again, I saw one day "Hey, Virtual Villagers has a Part 2". That one, I didn't download. I actually found the CD in Wal-Mart for $9.99.
While searching the web for game tips and hints, I found this site. That was a year ago. That's when I saw "WOW, they're working on a Part 3!" So, I kept checking about one a month until I saw it here. I bought VV3 from this site.

Am anxiously awaiting VV4. I know, I know, 3 just came out, and I'm only just beginning the game. But all I can think is "If they did THIS much with 3, how much COOLER will 4 be?"

It was Big Fish games. I tried VV2 and got so addicted I had to get VV1 also. By this time I had decided LDW had the right idea for games that would keep me interested so I got FT next. I next will get PT but I've been so busy playing VV3 that it will have to wait awhile.I'd like to see something more happen with FT like an addon with another store and a few more fish tanks. Love those fish too.

I too, originally found VV1 through Big Fish games, I think -- it's been a while. Well, I bought one of the first two at Big Fish games, and I used to have VV1 and VV2, but then I formatted my computer. When I went back to Big Fish Games to download the games I bought through them, I could only find VV2. Maybe I bought VV1 from here? Can't remember. Doesn't matter though, I don't want VV1 back again anyway. VV2 was fun enough to play again and I like VV3, but couldn't really go back to VV1 anyway. \:\)

I found VV2 through big fish and got hooked then I bought VV1 on disc through e-bay, sent from USA. I absolutely was thrilled when VV3 came out. I have completed all three but feel there should be more for the builders later in the game. as you end up with tooooo many in the water fishing and the lab and hospital also get packed out. The very first time I played this sim all my villagers died. I felt guilty for ages. fantastic game though Even my 6 and 8 yr olds are getting into it

I came across it on Shockwave. I have a yearly subscription there. I am so glad your games are on their site! Please don't EVER take them away!

I am surprised so many people here said Pogo. I never liked their site.

I learned about them from my son. He got me hooked on Villagers. Then I did a web search to see if there were more and found this website. When I saw there was another villagers game in the making and also Virtual Families I came here every day to see if they were finished. I grabbed VF up as soon as it was posted. I plan on doing that with VV4 too. Lol!!! Arthur has really got us hooked!

I had been trying to find at least one good game to occupy myself with when my boyfriend is not home and Virtual Families was on Big Fish Game's #1 spot for games in the simulation category. After seeing the title I immediately clicked and got to loving the game. Eventually I came to the forum for tips and grew to love the community.

I saw Virtual Villagers on Big Fish and played the trial. I had never seen anything like it and I was hooked!! I have played them all. I had VV3 running for over a year until we moved from NY to NV. I love these games and I love the community. We are all big time loyal followers of LDW. They make me laugh and sometimes make me cry because we just get so involved with our little peeps. I don't know of any other gamesite like this.

My grandparents just got a new computer so while I was at their house I went on and went to a program that was installed onto their computer, Gateway Games. And the way Gateway Games works is they give you like 3 tokens, and you can play as long as you want (no 60 minute trial), and once you close the game, it uses one token, so I found VV2 on there and started playing for hours! Then I went to Best Buy and saw VV2 there, so I immediately bought it. I got addicted to it and i read the box and it shows LDW.com so I checked it out and now i'm here grin

I found VV2 on my dad's iphone. I had been looking through the app store(mostly because he didn't have any interesting games) and I saw VV2 and thought "Cool! A tiny, virtual village!" I downloaded the demo and played it for hours(I managed to complete the game with a population of 8, since the demo version only allows a population of cool. I found the website, and now I own VV3 and VF!

I got the first one when I still had a Palm device. Moved on to buying the plant and fish tycoon games and all the VV and VF games for PC. Tried the ones on Android on a phone and tablet, but stuck with just the VF series there as the VV graphics are warped.

I, too, think I got the first one I played from Handmark or Big Fish. I remember thinking Last Day of Work was a clever name and looking at all the other games available.

My kids all got addicted watching me play, and when I load a new game up by LDW, they all beg to play and put it on their PCs. They were just a bit disappointed that VT isn't on PC (or I cannot find it). They do still play the VV series once in a while.

On Big Fish! I remember playing on my grandma's computer and coming across Virtual Families around 2010, I've been in love with LDW ever since smile I think I've played just about every game you guys have haha grin
