The paid versions of the game, such as the Big Fish version, don't have the option for in-app purchases. However, the in-game economy is adjusted for this and provides you with the Lavastone Generator.
That said, if you wish to play the free-to-play version of the game on a desktop computer (with optional in-app purchases, including animals like the Lemur, Heron and Flying Squirrels), you can download it through Steam or Windows Store:

Thanks for the reply. So I guess that means I have to keep making rope. Anyway my rain looks like snowflakes coming down. So weird. Not any problem with the rain looking like that, it's just different.

I mentioned the Lavastone Generator as this was added to the paid versions of the game, when it's normally an in-app purchase in the free-to-play versions; the animals are also in-app purchases in the free versions.
This was to provide balance to the game play and difficulty level as players of the paid versions don't have the option of purchasing anything extra.
