This is where you can discuss crafting in Virtual Villagers: Origins 2. You can post combinations that you've discovered or ask for help when you're stuck. We want to keep all of the crafting spoilers in one place (right here!) so that players who want to discover everything for themselves don't run into spoilers.

Just a friendly reminder, too, that we will move or delete any crafting spoilers that we find anywhere but here.

How to craft tools?

Tools are different from the items you make in the crafting hut. To make the first tool, you need to have a villager pick up a specific item. They will take that item to a place near the research table, where you can do more work on it.

The best way to find things the villagers can interact with is to slowly drag one of the villagers around the map and watch for hints at the bottom of the screen about the things they see.

I can't collect wale bones any more so how do i make the axe?

If you've already used the pickaxe for its intended purpose, then you will not need one again. If you haven't actually used it yet, you should find it near where you created it.

I have figured out how to make the holiday lights in the crafting hut. But how do I use them? When I drop a villager on the crafting hut the don’t show up as an option. I know Christmas is over, but I still want to decorate my village!!

After the event ended last week, the holiday lights went away for everyone. You can still catch fireflies and craft lights, but you can't use them. That seems messed up to me. They should have removed everything related to the lights if they weren't going to let us use them.

I must have started playing the game right after the holiday event ended. I agree, that is messed up. Just remove them from the game if we can’t use them. Or better yet, call them “festive lightss” like those lights people put on their patios and campers and let them be used year round.

A lovely player during our testing phase put together this awesome VVO2 crafting spreadsheet and shared it with everyone.

Does anyone know how to make stone?

You mix Lava and Water together, and you get the lava from the little stepping stone rock. The water you can collect from the little buckets by the seed bag.

I'm still not sure how to obtain the pond water. Can someone tell me please?

It needs to be raining or has rained recently so there is water in the pond, then it’s just like any harvesting just drop person on it

It's on the spreadsheet, but here's a clue if you want to feel a sense of accomplishment: when lava flows into the ocean, the big island of Hawaii gets even bigger.

Still can't figure out how to get the poison. Can anyone help?

Works the same as pond water. If it's raining, or has been very recently, drop a villager on the nest - assuming you've solved that puzzle already.

I don't know if anyone else has responded yet (I'm new to these forums). I was able to get pond water by dragging my villager to the pond when it was raining. Otherwise, the pond is dry.

I'm working on the clay hut, and at 50 percent complete, what comes after the clay bricks? I see what looks like straw and boards, which should be a hint, but right now I'm clueless.

I bought this game through Big Fish, why doesn't it have a store? Will take forever to get 300 lavastone to get another crafting station. And then I found I could play it for free with the Facebook Gameroom so I'm playing both.

Hi Sherry! Regarding the Clay Hut,

Also, the Big Fish version (and other paid versions of the game) don't have the option of in-app purchases, but the Lavastone Generator was provided free to these versions to balance the currency. You can also earn Lavastones through random events in the game and exploring volcanic cracks!

I've been plodding along, finished the clay hut, finished the water wheel, finished the plans for the yellow statue but it still needs something else and I'm assuming that I can't work on the other two until this one is finished. I made a piece of yellow glass. But haven't made any butterflies yet. Does it need a butterfly?

Still me, I'm working on making all the butterflies and the colored glass, have the yellow one, but still need the blue and red.

OK, I'm playing this game on both the Facebook Gameroom and the Big Fish version.
On the FB version, I've created all the butterflies and colored glass, I was able to place the red and blue glass in their statues but still unable to complete the yellow statue. Also in this version you get a green statue sitting next to blocked cave, do I need glass for it too?

On the BF version, I've created all the butterflies and colored glass but I was only able to place the red glass in it's statue, but unable to place the blue or yellow glass.
This version does not have the green goddess statue next to the blocked cave.

Any suggestions, tips, hints? I've read that many of you got to the 2nd chapter, how, may I ask?

Did you ever get to chapter 2? I seem to be finishing random puzzles in no apparent order unlike chapter 1. Now I am lost as to what to do next. Stuck on puzzle 16 and have not found anything online except annoying videos that dont help and nothing in these forums.

Yes I did and like you, I'm just sort of wandering around, do you know what goes into the fish pie, besides fish and dough, rubarb doesn't sound right but it's the only thing my crafting hut is offering and since you lose items if they don't make anything I'm hesitant to try.

Hi there!

To use any stored resources or items, simply drag and drop a villager on your Crafting Hut - note that your villagers won't interact with certain resources or items if they're not of use in the puzzle steps you're currently working on.

To catch air, drag and drop a villager on the mini-typhoons whenever they appear.

How to craft metal?

How to add water before mixing ingredients?
I have water in crafting hut.. but water not appear when i drang villager to it. Anyone know how to?

If you are needing the water for a crafting recipe, you drag it to the crafting bowl, along with the other ingredient for the recipe. For example, if you want to make clay, you drag the red earth to the crafting bowl and drag the water to the same crafting bowl.

If you need water for a puzzle step, if the water doesn't show up when you drop a villager on the crafting hut it means that you need to complete other steps first.

I means is a bowl near the construction table.. when i drang villager to the bowl.. it said.. a (villager name) thinks they need water before mixing ingredients.. i think this is how to cook something.. please guide me how to cook something..

You need to gather other things first. Look for plants around the village that you haven't been able to use. See what happens when you drop a villager on those plants.

Charcoal is a resource you gather, but it only becomes available once you complete the Chapter 1 puzzles and begin Chapter 2!

"Absolutely" love the game.
I've got the 2nd garden "opened".
I "think" these are what I "need" to "open":
1. Planting soil( which haven't made yet).
2. Fertilizer (got 1, but trade boat "wants" it).

I asked this ? on another post, "before" I found this post:
How do I get the "oven ready"? I need to make "soft pots".

I remember in VV4, that the peeps "adding hot stones", by a "chain of people", til it was "hot".
It doesn't work that way on VVOS.

Also, I have some "observations" that I have noticed in VVOS, may I put them here? Or in another post?

Sure does take a "long time" in getting "tech points", after getting all 5 sections out of the "easy part tech points".
Got farming in "stage 2", 50,000, now working on construction for "stage 2", 80,000.
Got 3 masters in science "continually working around the clock"
in making "tech points". Hope they don't "die of old age" before I can get these "tech points" for the other sections.
Again, "loving" the game.

Going to "make" a "observation" post for all that I have "observed" in this game so far. Hope I can keep it "open", as I "add" more to it. It won't have "any spoilers."
1 ?, I seen where they were "asking" about "chapters" 3 and 4 in this game. Does that mean this will be a "continuous" thing for this series? I bought my thru another site, "if" they do "add chapters", will my game be "updated" with them? Or will I have to "buy" these "chapter updates" each time?

All my Villager are dying I only have 7 left what do I do they will not make baby they are to old

We're sorry to hear about your villagers passing away!

You have plenty of options to prevent your village from dying! You can buy three villagers from the Marketplace - one adult male, one adult female and one child - for 250 Lavastones. You can also reincarnate individual villagers who have passed away by visiting the Mausoleum (in the upper right corner of your island); they'll return as children and will be able to produce children again once they reach adulthood. Finally, if your entire village passes away, you'll be offered the chance to reincarnate them all (free in the first instance and a cost of Lavastones in all future instances) or select five new villagers!

Two things...How do I get enlightening for the yellow statue ? I have yellow glass ,but villagers are not able to get from crafting hut.
Also I have not been able to get charcoal from the cave even with top gather. And I can't access the help forum.
I play the F.B. VERSION IF THAT MAKES A differance.

I spent days crafting all the necessary items to finish the water wheel. I needed to wait a couple of hours for my Master Builder to come of age to complete it. When I came back to the game my second centre piece has disappeared and now I have to waste another god knows how many days crafting all over again! And before anyone asks the obvious, yes i know 100% that it was ready because I tried to complete it with a Trainee Builder to be told 'This villager needs more building experience' (or the equivalent)

This isn't the first time this has happened, its also happened with other craftables, but they weren't an issue as they weren't massively time consuming.

What gives?!
