You've probably heard of Oscar Wilde's novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, in which the title character stays young and beautiful, but his portrait ages.

Well, my first mayor has aged and turned grey and finally left for "the island" (whatever that is), but her secretary is still as young as when the mayor took office, and so are all the townspeople. It's bad enough that I have to clean up after the whole town -- that people can't mow their own lawns or put their own trash in the trash can -- but I AGE for the entire town?! Wow, that's ... freaky. Or creepy. Or something like that. :-)

No WONDER this town has a hard time keeping mayors! I'd get out, too! ;-)

Thanks for giving me a much-needed laugh. This town is creepy in that way, and how the kid follows you around even in her 20s? Stepford Wives vibes, lol.

Glad you enjoyed it!

And yeah, when I had my first mayor, I didn't realize how quickly the kids grew up, so I adopted one WAY too early. "Corwin, age 37, following Mom around." I felt really sorry for the poor guy.

Another weird thing about the town -- have you seen the huge CRIME WAVE? There are only twelve people in the whole town -- counting the kid and me -- and something gets stolen several times per week, sometimes even twice a day! Whoever the criminal is, he or she is very active! :-)
