UPDATE: This issue was resolved on April 17, and the updated game should now be propagated to all of the servers. If you are having this issue, please read this post, which describes how to get the updated game.
An activation code isn't needed to play the trial version of Virtual Families 2: Our Dream House for Windows.
Even though this screenshot is for Virtual Families, you should see a screen similar to the one featured in the link below. You can press the play button to play the one-hour trial.
I don't get that to come up. I get "the security key for this program currently stored on your system does not appear to be valid" and I can't get passed this.
I am also Getting this message. After running the instal and before any kind of LDW screen. After running install it displays a window with my computer name and a place to enter key.
We're investigating this issue. We think there might be an issue with the DRM file when the original VF game has been activated on the same system. If you have a different computer that has not had the original VF installed and activated, the VF2 trial will work fine.
Will bypassing the trial and purchasing the game solve the problem (for those of us willing/able) even if we have the original VF installed and activated? (Maybe somebody who has already purchased the game + has the original can help answer this?)
Thanks for response. I uninstalled, Useing LDW uninstall Program. Reinistalled. Selected Cancel on first message. Same error. This is what my Task Manager show befor I select cancel. ___ Guess file was too big. Task Manager shows two Virtual Families 2.exe running - -
I didn't have this problem, probably because VF1 isn't installed on this machine. I had three choices: "Play", "Buy" and "Unlock". I entered the activation key I'd been sent by email after buying and It worked fine.
OK, we have an update for everyone. This problem is not related to the installation and activation of the original VF1 game. Instead, if you have VV5 installed and activated, you will encounter this error. We will have a workaround for everyone shortly, so please submit a Support Ticket and we will provide a solution to you as soon as we can!
We are vey sorry for this issue, and we will make it right!
We're still looking into this issue. We know there's an issue with VV5 already installed, but that may not be the extent of the problem. What LDW games do you have installed and activated?
I have A New Home, The Secret City and the original Virtual Families. I have the serial codes for all 3 so, if need be, I could try uninstalling them temporarily - of course, only as a last ditch effort as necessary to rule out what is causing the issue.
Princess_Atta, uninstalling the games would probably not resolve the issue, since the codes are stored in the Windows registry and wouldn't be removed by uninstalling. The best thing to do is to submit a Support Ticket and wait for a new build that will not have this issue.
We have a new build (for the error with the purchased version), and Heather has said that she will start working on the submitted tickets now. Hopefully, you won't have to wait long!
(And, again, we're very sorry about this problem. )
I have an older computer and it's stuck at the first page "Oh look. A big broken house."
Issue fixed, it was in full screen mode and I couldn't see the start button. I have an older computer also and it's working fine. I have my Display settings to 1152x864 in order to see the whole screen.
Then I went back to the game - once I am actually playing, I go to menu - settings, and I clicked full screen, now it's normal!!
We should have a corrected version of the Windows trial version available by late today. We appreciate your patience while we work on all of these issues.
